It has been billed as the start of a new chapter in South Africa's democracy. The first National Convention officially opened in Pretoria on Friday, despite earlier doubts over whether it would go ahead.

More than 1000 delegates were in attendance, among them President Cyril Ramaphosa, who delivered the keynote address.

While Africa is at the forefront of the global climate crisis, a massive gap remains: the women who produce the majority of our food are often the last to receive the funding needed to protect it.
