Ethiopia’s long-awaited National Dialogue has entered a critical phase, with key issues such as transitional justice now under discussion. As the country seeks to address the legacy of past conflicts and rebuild trust among its diverse communities, the process is being viewed as an important opportunity to renew national cohesion and strengthen local ownership of peacebuilding efforts.

While the dialogue has generated optimism, questions remain about inclusivity, representation and how recommendations will be implemented. Observers say the success of the process will depend on whether it can build broad public confidence and deliver meaningful outcomes that address longstanding grievances.
