 Moscow says it is dealing with what it calls an anomalous situation in the North Atlantic which features a high-stakes maritime standoff involving a Russian-flagged oil tanker that Washington and its allies have been tracking for weeks. According to media reports, the US is making plans to try to intercept the oil tanker Marinera that Russia has claimed jurisdiction over. Officials are continuing investigations after a group of 20 children were intercepted while attempting to cross South Africa's Limpopo River, in the direction of Zimbabwe. The operation was carried out by members of the South African National Defence Force and Border Management Authority (BMA), near the Beitbridge border post between the two countries. Officials say the majority of the minors were found without parental supervision or legal guardianship, with only one adult confirmed to be the parent of some of the children. This incident has sparked urgent concerns over child exploitation and the effectiveness of current border security measures during this high-volume post-festive season.
