Cholera outbreaks are surging across West and Central Africa, with children once again bearing the brunt. UNICEF warns that an estimated 80 000 children are at high risk, as heavy rains, flooding, and poor sanitation fuel the spread.

The Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria are among the worst hit, with several neighbouring countries also on high alert.

While Africa is at the forefront of the global climate crisis, a massive gap remains: the women who produce the majority of our food are often the last to receive the funding needed to protect it. This emerged at the Council of Ministers of SADC in Pretoria, convened to deliberate on the implementation of regional integration programmes.
