Afrobarometer’s latest flagship report shows that African youth are significantly less engaged in political and civic activities than older generations, with one major exception, participation in protests.
The findings draw on more than 53 000 interviews conducted across 39 African countries, offering one of the most comprehensive snapshots of political engagement on the continent.
Tsepiso Makwetla spoke to Lionel Essima Ossé, Afrobarometer’s Assistant Project Manager for North and West Africa, to unpack the results.
