Yes, it was really good, so good. He's got lovely hair, nice little mullet going on. Relax mate, Yeah, relax, it would be good.

He'll be back.

We go through some AFL news, both of the opening round matchups. I say both because sadly there's only two. Bloody cycling Alfred as rule that. We're going to go through that with tips, odds, stats, debates, best bets, big calls for the weekend from each of us actually which is going to be good fun, and then finish off with what to keep an eye for the weekend ahead.

Oh however we get a k around, that's a big asspit.

I like it.

Well, we're gonna end with twenty four k, over one hundred a day.

What we have already, so I don't mind that. So yeah, make sure you hit that subscribe.

But even the bell as well, it goes a long way, can alert you when the show's wrong, because we've got a show Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday night wrapping up the round. Yeah, follow Today, AFIL Today, across all the socials, AFL Today, au on most of them, and then Facebook is Ossie Rules Today.

He knows it. Yeah, I know you all your socials that you put up.

Follow Leo's putting the super Coach teams up there, which is really good fun. And then across, of course, across all the podcast platforms, so you can listen to us on there all right. As we always start these shows, Newsticker Lads News ticker. First one, Matt row is causing a bit of a stir. He's causing interest in other clubs. Five Victorian clubs are after Matt Rowe apparently, and the dogs are at the top of that.

That's the only one confirmed. The dogs. Yes, okay, what do you guys think should we guess for the other? I think.

Yes, Geelong probably they just love like a midfield's twenty.

Mil right there. For Matt Row. That's true dogs. I think it's a bit weird.

But talking to dogs fans, including my dad, he was like, Liber goes out that sort of pretty guy. Yeah, Liber is pretty old. You get Matt Rowe coming in. That's like the gritty, grinding sort of midfielder.

That they need.

So I don't mind the dogs. He will also.

Keep the the practice ovals at whitt No Oval freshly.

Moan exactly because that was a lot with the cancel.

All you gonna do is just hold his legs, will barrow him Mattrow.

Can we do a skit with Matt Row where we will? But I don't think you'll. Don't think he will like that. He's a bit too vanilla for us. Probably.

Wow, So he's not a he wouldn't go to Geelong. You're saying he's not a Geelong boy boy, but he's a good man.

Not many, not many rangers like a nice guy said about you. Yeah, producer. There we go next one. In the newsticker, You're old mate. Your coach Sam Mitchell is fired up. There was a docco last night that you watched. He said in the doco he doesn't want his side to look tired out in the field. So he said, of course you're going to be tired in the NFL game. But he says, if your players look tired, you're going to lose the game.

I probably agree with that. We said he'd rather play with sixteen. Yeah.

I think that was just more to like send the message would so he said this with a lot more swear words than I.

Yes, I look I like it.

I think every coach should be doing that though, like they don't want their players looking tired. That just give because if you're tired, the opposition will be tired, and the lift and if you're showing you're tired and the opposition isn't, it's.

Just like a little awe, a thing in the air that not to get on top of you.

Well, he has a point, but I reckon every other club would be doing that.

I know it was a pracky but I feel like he did that at half time against the Dogs because the Hawks did lose.

That did did look a little bit lethargic in that first time.

In the docker. That was a bit at halftime during that Dog's game. Yeah it wasn't It wasn't too happy, but yeah, they definitely lifted and it was an interesting inside that doc. But it wasn't anything groundbreaking. But as a Hawks fan, I'm going to know it.

Looked pretty good. I'll give it a wash. I reckon why not. There was probably a little bit about the Wizard in there, and loved him.

So there was actually surprisingly a lot on Tom Barrass and they.

Were very very Grass is a good person. They were very hard on him, though I think he's a better signing than Josh Battle.

Interesting, I agree, I agree, we'll see how the Battle is younger though I think Battle has scope to be a little bit better, but we'll see.

Nice.

It's surprising that they were hard on Barrass though so experienced, and the like was you've got to learn the Hawthorn way of fitness or no, no, it's just like you've got to learn our structure. You've got to be a bit more intimidating and physical. And he wasn't against it. He was taking the one but it just found it interesting they go after someone so experienced like that.

There we go, just like our Cricket Today show that were usually a bit of nuggets of knowledge.

I mean, I'm not really providing the knowledge now, I'm just relaying you've done, You've done next one.

In the newsticker, Clary Oliver just in an interview at midst he wasn't the best teammate or person at the club last year, thanks captain.

But the fact that he said that, and the fact that they're sort.

Of moving on as a club with him and he said he's going to be there in the long term as a Melbourne fan, You're like, at least he's owning up to it, and at least yeah, the.

Whole club is like, he's all right now, everyone's getting through it. What do you guys think about that? I love that quote. Yes, it was.

Actually written in an article by Gilbert Garner that's in this office. Yeah, yeah, because Clarry was at the I think he's a race ambassador this weekend or something like that. And yeah, it was a few Clary article about Clary, so that was interesting.

Yeah.

Yeah, Well we had twenty eight and a goal in the pracky I think you know, three goals.

The wrong one and I was looking at Corney. Yeah three goals, Yeah, that's unbelieving.

Scored one thirty four super Coach points for those interesting getting in.

Your team last one in the newsticker the AFL, I've re arranged the pictures of opening around obviously cyclone Alfred. But they confirmed today that Brisbane verse Geelong will be in round three. Because both teams were supposed to have the buy then and then you're bombers. You want to talk about them, it's it's what's wrong with Esson versus Gold Coast, Essen versus Gold Coast. Look, they don't have Both teams don't have the same boys early in the season and late in the season, which is a bit of a problem but a bit tricky.

So instead of working.

It around, they're just going to be like, all right, we's just slap it in the bye week before finals start after round twenty four.

Well, both teams arent going to be in finals anyway, so.

Yeah, probably not, but no Coast even still, if they're not in finals, it's just a pointless dead rubber that we got to watch away finals.

Or imagine if you're both like tenth, eleventh or twelfth and you have to win that game to win make the finals.

That'd be good. Do you realize you are talking about gold Coast and my bomb. Well, I don't rate gold Coast as much as other people, but they have a chance of making for you know what, him in the eighth he had that a couple of years Adlaide. Yeah, yeah, I'm off.

The thing is it could be like tenth verse twelve, but like a win gets the like half a game out of the eight and it's just like it's still a dead rubb And you're like, yeah, yeah, I.

Would have rather just cancel the game completely and give both teams the points.

No, let's do it. Yeah, so mac Andrew can't kick another goal after the siren.

We'll talk that suggestion on Wednesday, show the draw you said I did.

No, I'm on for that because stuff, it's going to be a dead rubber that How.

Hard is it to rework it? Just surely they can swap buyers.

Around and they got twenty four weeks to rearrange that fixture. Yeah, you're telling me you can't find one space in there, especially when Essendon played midweek while streaming as that day will be midweksh I'm sure around there you could probably.

Think the midweek games like in COVID.

Nah, that was don't give me.

Want to bring yep, that's exactly what I said. Anyway, that make that the quote and the thumbnail, Well you're going to.

Wants to bring back COVID. On that note, let's have a little bit of a break.

We're going to get into the interview that Leo and I did with Lucky Foggery talks all things super coach, Vossi, a few other things.

So we're going to get into that right now.

AFL Today here with a another special segment. We're here with one of the most consistent Carlton players. He does a bit of everything, Lucky Foggy. Thanks for jumping on AFL Today, show mate.

How are you yeah going well?

Guys, thanks for having me awesome.

We'll start off this is we love a bit of Michael voss on this show. I'm very curious about Vossi. Obviously he had a bit of a superhero arc last season. Even at that cafe, he's saving some people and things like that. What's he like and do you think the great Man could still get a game in this card?

And team. He's so buff, he's still ready to go.

He certainly is in good nick at the moment. Yeah.

We see him in the gym a few times and while boys are struggling to lift a hundred, he's doing it as he's warm up.

So yeah, he's good man Vossy.

He's big on relationships and building those with players, and.

He's just a great motivator as well.

We talk about often in our captains runs and our meetings we feel like playing that game then and there just because he's so motivating. So yeah, he's been really good for our group.

Yeah, that's awesome. That's what you wanted to excip it coach obviously as well.

Yeah, I love that.

Is there anyone at the club, Lockie that gives the best sort of chirp or trash tall field?

Ooh for yourself? Even do you have any?

Yeah, to be honest, I feel like guys are so tired during games.

It's not too much, honestly.

Probably since my first year I reckon I was playing against Port Adelaide.

This is about seven years ago. I don't reckon. I've got too much since then, So yeah, it has been a while. If I had to, I.

Had to think of someone, it's probably someone like a Charlie Kerner or Maddi culturally and a few things.

Yeah, Madie, especially Maddie. He loves a strut after he kicks a goal. I think he's a bit of a loose can.

Yeah, I love that. I love that.

He's all about that for sure.

Very nice.

Love it.

Now. You obviously played at Spotswood as a junior. I know Jordan Boyd played there as well.

Did you play much.

Footy with him and what's it like playing alongside him on the on the big stage.

Yeah, so I played heaps of footy with Boydie. We started in the under nine together. He's a year older, but through period there I was playing above my age group. So yeah, it's honestly, it's it's really cool. I think it was back in twenty twenty one and I went back to Spotty and he was playing at the seniors at the time, and I actually presented his spots with Jumper to him and then yeah, a few months later he was a mid season draft d. So yeah, I got a really good mat with Boydy. We still train together in the off season and it's pretty cool to think that two kids from Spots were just playing in the AFL together.

Yeah, that's that's sick.

Do you ever go back in what's a bit of Spots Spotswood when you can?

Or I haven't.

I haven't for a little while. I've also I'm tied up with Saint Evans. I went to my school, so I still got mates playing for the Sint Kevin's Old Boys. So when I do get an opportunity, yeah, I'll try and get there.

Yeah, I love it.

Yeah.

Would you say Jordan Boyd you're probably closest with in the Carlton team or your lock of buddy next year would be Crip, I'd say with numbers and things like that.

Or is there anyone else you're sort of close with at the club?

Yeah, close with Boydy. George Hewitt's another one I'm pretty good mates with. We had a similar back problems a couple year years ago and did our rehab together, and yeah, he's someone I'm very close with. Good sounding board for me, but even just not talking about footage, just talking about other things.

Yeah, he's always good to chat too.

Yeah, I love that.

I'm just gonna have a little People call me the stats guy on this show, so I'm going to bring a stat for once. Since the start of twenty twenty three, Carlton are twenty and seven with you and six one and twelve without you. Did you know you're the mold to this Carleton team? And do you let the other boys know about it? Because I feel like if you play that, you're just going to get a dub.

I'm not too sure about that.

A few people I've mentioned the stat to me over the last eighteen months, and yeah, it's probably nice to hear, but I don't read into it too much.

But yeah, it is a nice stat when you think about it.

Yeah, I reckon. Just bring it up.

If anyone ever gives you a clip or something like that, just just say, yeah, we win when I'm in the team six one and that's pretty good boy.

Yeah, yeah, I love it. Next one. We always love talking about the younger guys. Obviously got Jagger Smith.

I'm really excited to see him play next unfortunately he's injured, but really excited to see him comes through the ranks. A lot of other younger guys, who do you reckon is your breakout or guy that's going to go to another level in twenty twenty five, obviously you've had a big pre season and things like that.

Yeah, yeah, there's probably a couple guys in his third season, Lucky Cowen. I've been really impressed by him, and obviously we've had Nick Newman go down, so we have needed someone to step up. And yeah, I've had to play on him a fair bit in this preseason. Actually said to him a couple of weeks ago when we were training, I'm actually looking forward to not playing on him.

He's a real physical player.

He can be a lockdown defender if he has to, or I feel like once he gets a bit more confidence and comfortable, he's a player who can break some lines, which he was able to do back in the under eighteen system.

So yeah, I feel like he's really he's in for a big year.

Yeah, I love that. Actually, the crowd i've heard go move when Cowen gets the ball. Is there any other like strong nicknames around the club that we might not have heard of or one that you have yourself, even that the boys call you.

I get called dogger a bit, Just things like that, the amount of nicknames throwing around footy club.

Cooper Lord gets called gospel.

Yeah, yeah nice.

So yeah, there's a few out there which are pretty funny.

Yeah, nice and creative. I don't mind that. Nice.

Switching to outside of footy. What sort of keeps you busy in your downtime.

It's a little bit of study at the moment, doing a commerce degree and slowly ticking that off. Yeah, it's all online, which is handy, so I can just listen to the recordings when I want to. Yeah, I'm about halfway through the course which ye with the twenty four units, but slowly getting there. Just got a dog as well, a little brutal so awesome, keeping me pretty busy taking her for a walk. So her name's Peach, so yeah, she's about five months old now. But Grudle is a pretty full lie, which I've come to learn.

Yeah, like looking after a little kid. Probably very nice.

Actually, this is one that we got provided from your media manager. But I heard you were once not too bad at Super Coach fourth Best for a month back in twenty fifteen. I've heard you've been telling all the boys you'd be like, oh, I used to be a Supercoach wizard. Are you still all over the super Coach or is anyone else in the Blues that are always checking their supercoach scores or individual scores even.

Yeah. So yeah that was back in twenty fifteen.

I was right into it with my schoolmates and yeah for a month, yeah I was in the top four, but I did go down hell after that, I couldn't even tell you I finished over all the ranking. I've dropped it last year. I was the first year I hadn't done it for a while. But I have got a few mates snagging me at the moment to get back into it. So yeah, We've only got a couple of days, so I might might be putting my team together pretty soon.

Yeah, I love that.

Yeah, we love being a super coach. Do you check your superhoach scores? Anyone at the club like that would actually look at it?

Or is it a bit of.

One that may I don't think guys be all over I saw that.

I don't mind looking at it occasionally because it talks about the effectiveness and haven't effective disposals you've had? So yeah, I'll occasionally look at it. It's in the Herald Son obviously. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, guys, I reckon they be guys who are all over it as well. I think crip, But I don't know, I think he's pretty big on it.

Weeders, maybe the Scripper captain himself, you're you've got. I wouldn't blame him. He's just said so yeah, yeah.

I love that. I just love it. Just why not? Actually, I think that's it all the questions. That's it.

The countdown is on for Carlton's first bounce for twenty twenty five. Become a member today from as little as twelve dollars per month. Visit membership dot Carlton FC dot com dot you. I think that's it. Thank you very much Locky for jumping on.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Cheers, mate, Let's get right back into the usual show. What an interview that was, lads with Lockey Foggery. I'm glad he could jump on the lostious locks and everything about him.

I just I just liked it. It was very good. Wasn't he the spotty boys dog they my area.

Yes, yeah, he talked up Locky Cowen softer look at him.

No they say move like they do for s yet it because cow Yeah? No, yeah, thanks.

In case in case, all right, lad's game preview time. Here we go, opening round. Oh, there's only two games, but that's all right. We'll get into these two games with lots of detail. Sydney Verse Hawthorne is the first one, Your beloved.

Hawksley, are you're a bit nervous? Just first off, I've actually.

Been nervous for a couple of weeks now for a couple weeks. Yeah.

Literally, this is a working game. It is a big game. Obviously.

Imagine if this one was canceled and the Essen and Gold Coast one was still going, it would have been Gold Coast Essen in the start of the season.

How horrible.

That would have been great obviously, Sidney Verse Hawthorn Friday night, seven forty at the SCG. Let's get into the team's lads, let's talk it through you you too, start us off.

You start us off?

Who maybe cover Hawthorne when you could cover?

Sure, you cover Hawthorne.

Don't mind.

How we do this is up for debate. You go, because I have a lot of begins.

Well, they've got Brass and Battle making their club debuts.

They're listed in the back line. Now.

Look, we don't read into the how the teams structure on the afl AT, but James Cicely is on a wing.

Oh boy?

What Yeah?

And Harry Morrison is and a half forward. So we all know Harry morral and it's the big bust looks and a half forward.

But you can't.

You also can't put James Is on a wing. It's just a joke, mate, They.

Just they people just chuck it on the.

Black card fullback.

Even though he's gonna play foll this year, he'll play his mind games from the Hawks.

Thereers what you're saying, what this is?

This has happened for a decade now, stuff like this with every team like it's it's nothing new. But yeah, the Hawthorne team looks good. Gunston is an emergency, so he misses out. Bruce is not even in the best twenty six. He didn't get on the plane.

He was a good sub. But you said he played box fill last week. Yeah, I just reckon. I don't know.

Looking at our extended bench, someone like a McGinnis could be a good SA's very versatile. Honestly, Loki Frosty is a It's not bad.

He just speeding. I don't know about that one.

But it's just interesting to see how the Hawks structure their back line. I was reading a little bit that frost if Papley was playing, which we'll get into, was going to go to Papley and use his speed on him there and keep the tools as is, and then hard we can go forward all this and that blah blah blah, but no, no Papley. So we just see how that sort of back six operates against the Sydney forward line.

Good cor mat Is it slightly small? If anything? That defense our defense? Yeah, why is Jarman he be starting at center half backs?

No, he's in like you don't but if you look at the if you look at the back line as a whole, Hardwick's undersized. I know he plays like as a bag who plays Hardwicks undersize not over one nine.

Yeah, but he's not one on one player. I don't know. You've got battle and battle and barrassa one on one.

But to be fair, the Sydney forward line is pretty spot is pretty small, like automic.

I think if anything, were oversized back line really, but I think it gives I think our forward line is definitely undersized for sure. Like you look at that, yeah, I know, like that's not going to be the starting six forwards. But Charles the only one there over Nash is tall but he won't play forward. Charles the only one there over like one ninety.

This lineup is so.

I know you're saying it doesn't matter, but this is like because usually you say it doesn't matter to the lineup because there's like one or two weird spots.

There's like six or seven bugs here in the wrong position.

Okay, do you want me to tell you where these guys will? Oh, we don't have to go to all of them, but it'll take ten seconds.

Hard.

We could be forward.

We'll put Morrison on the wing, Sisily back Day on ball stop with more.

That's it. That's literally it. Okay, don't read into it. Mate's just a bit of time on the Sydney side. They're obviously a little bit under man. They've they've got some injuries.

Yeah, we'll speaking to Alex previously, he says five or six of the best twenty three you're probably out in this game.

That Eryl Grundy is Grundy. And actually that's good.

That's something that's good for my supergost draft team as well. Yes, but still this it's still a fairly decent team that you'd expect to at least get a not I wouldn't say get up the line, but at least put up a very decent five.

If they are to lose against this up well, yeah.

But you still got You've still got players like Isaac Keeney, Chad Warner, Cheeks from the show.

Robot be surprised if he goes to like Nukem or something and just plays a little in the aiding roles.

And Oli Floren of course, who was just on the show we interviewed yesterday, so check that out if you haven't already.

Yeah, they got the depth still, they've got aways talking about before the show. All the young guys are actually anger. Sheldrick getting a game round one, Alex will be loving this. I think that's a good thing. He killed it in the preseason. Ben Patten Peyton or Patten.

I'm not sure. I'm gonna say.

I think he's a bit older though, because he came from Saint Kilda. Oh that's true. But the other one there is Corey Warner.

Now.

Yes, we obviously interviewed Oli Floren yesterday on yesterday's show clip going out tomorrow as well. From that show that talked about the two breakout players for Sydney this year being Sheldrick and Corey Warner. Yes, so you get to see both of them tomorrow night, Swans fans. And to be honest, I can't argue with feign on that one. Like Sheldrick, he's a beefy boy. We call him beef Sheldrick Corey Warner like if you've got blood relations to chadwarn Yeah, Like that says enough, you know what I mean?

And we've got debut Tom Ludds for Sydney. Yes game. Tom Handley fteen year old forward? Is he Wiley Lear you always liked to use. I don't know much about him. He's honest. Yeah, I think their aim is for forward pressure. He's like a mini Papilio.

I reckon he's going to make the Papily replacement Papily replacements playing.

Is there you go? So all these rumors of injuries.

Take back what I said about frost half of them, mar Yeah, because Frostol could play on Papily at times.

There we go, that's interesting, There we go. That's the teams.

Actually, before we finished off with the teams, Jake lloydswohundred and fiftieth game, Lloyd would say, what do you mean? He's had a really good career under he always hit the target.

And he will be remembered for peak pig in peak pig and super coats.

And super coach in fantasy.

Actually, I'm going to ask you this later. I don't even know, Like what does it mean by a pig.

Like you just rack it up in the back line, like Jack Zebra a couple of years ago, because he just chipped it around and got the kick mark.

I thought it stood for something, but no, probably not pretty well.

Jack Zebel's moved to the forard was pretty It was one of the worst position changes in recent memory, moving jacksonevil into the forward line.

But he started as a forwarding.

He was dominated for us, wasn't he started and the med sorry mid forward he won the end of.

His career like he was a beast that could be a second best half back for a few changes that ruined people.

Super coach, super coach got in the way of people's minds and beast it back on.

He wasn't He was a crape like he was. He was a terrible defender. Anyway.

Anyway, that's enough for the teams. Let's have a look at tab with the odds. Here we've got Sydney versus Hawthorne Sydney a dollar eighty five, so really really close in the odds with Hawthorne at a dollar ninety five, one of my best bets, and I'm looking I'm gonna have two best bets in this one. My first best bet is the under one hundred and sixty nine and a half, so that's the total points at a dollar ninety really good odds. I think some of the other bookies have them like dollar eighty five around that mark, but this one is on tab at a dollar ninety. The eight of the hawks last nine away matches have actually gone under the total points.

I'm going under in this one as well.

You bring in brass, you bring in battle, and you just got a much better defense for the Hawks. And then you know what, Sydney, Sydney with a number one offense and number one defense, first round of the year. I don't think it's going to be massive scoring Amari. He takes a wild fire up, he's not going to kick his ten goals, So I'm going to under as my.

First best bet.

The player best bet that I'm looking at is Chad Warner two plus goals three dollars seventy five. He's actually done it in his last five Friday night game. So under the lights, Chanley Warner he just fires up. He's going to kick two goals. He can kick it from about sixty meters when he's bursting out of the pack. I think he's a perfect matchup against the Hawks. Two goals, three dollars, seventy five bit extra value there with Tad there we go.

All right, what do you reckon, lads? Is Chundley Warner? Can he kick two goals? What do you reckon? On the under?

I think Chad Warner will kick two goals. I just think Hawthorn sometimes are susceptible to that game breaking mid and Chad Warner could be like nine touches thirty percent efficiency at halftime and then he just comes out kicks two goals.

In a minute and you're like, yeah, I'm more going for that.

Yeah, live while just in a quarter where he has quarters where he has like ten touches and two can.

Even just start the game on fire, and you're just like, oh, this is just for me.

It'd be awful.

Also, yeah, I feel like if the game is to go that way though, like both really fast, that suits Hawthorne.

A little bit more. I think would be one of Warner or Heeney to kick the two.

Yeah, you know, I can't complain with that.

That's pretty good, very nice.

And then, like I I was talking about the total points and things like that, what do you guys, reckon, is it going.

To be a high scoring game?

I like the under as well. Yeah, yeah, I just think the first game of the year. Yeah, just the key the key. Defensive stocks are pretty good for both sides.

Probably more Hawthorne Hawthorne.

Now Sydney is a system defend typically really well in at home as well.

So yeah, I like it.

I'm a little bit worried about the Hawks with these stats, Leo, so you can we can talk about these. Sydney have won the last five season opener, so they love a season opener. The last meeting against the Hawks they won by seventy six points. But straight after this, the Hawks then won seven of their next eight matches, and it's like, oh, we got smashed by city and then they just catapult.

Can I just say something, and I'm going to cop some slack for this. We weren't actually that bad in that Sydney game.

Was seventy six. We weren't that bad.

And the previous three meetings between Sydney you've lost by an average margin of sixty six.

Yeah, but that includes the other two. The other two times you might have been bad. But I'm telling you we weren't that bad. I was at the game.

Can I just say one thing? You can't lose by seventy six and say.

Hang on, I'm getting the stats up. I just have to because I remember watching it. And Sam Mitchell after the game even said, and he got crucified for this, that if you were watching the game without scores, you would say the Hawthorne team wasn't.

Doing that badly.

If you lose a game by thirteen goals the expected score was like four goal margin in favor of Sydney, we still deserve to lose.

Well, don't bring in x G.

X.

I'll say that one thing. When I have an x G on this Thursday shot.

We only had.

We only had three less inside fifties. So that's all I'm saying. We weren't that bad. It was just yeah, you's still have bad areas of the game.

But like, can I say one thing that backs you up as a club? You don't even have that? Isn't that is the old Hawthorne because since you lost that game, yeah, since you find out it is, since you lost that game, you went on to win seven of your next day. Then you won like twelve of eleven of your next thirty and some that. Yeah, and then you're dominating. You made the finals and did pretty well there. So I don't even think Hawks fans have to worry about that. But just an interesting stat that what Marcus said as well, average of sixty six points in the last three meetings.

This one that was when one or.

Two they do playoffs, well they play match up really well.

Yeah. Yeah. And the other one I wanted to put.

In there just for a little player stat was Massimo mass de Ambrosio. He had twenty five plus disposals four of his last five games.

Direct and he can back it up from last season. I think he can. I think he can.

It might be a bit tougher on the SCG, just with how Sydney play it. I know it's not that different, all right, Calm down now.

He's the one that always says it's smaller.

Oh, I don't really care, Like, just play footy on it exactly right, But it's just small. How Sydney set up I think could stifle the Ambrosio a bit.

He'll play better at the g for sure.

Actually, I might ask you this one to finish off before we give our our own tips for the winner.

Who's going to be the standout players in this one?

That's good because we always like talking about stand up players on our crickets at a show.

Watch watch that one as well. Yeah, what do you reckon? Because first game of the season, it's not easy.

To pick, but you've got to fully fit Brody Grundy the Unicorn, I think I think you can go over the top of him.

I think Lloyd Makers just he's just a better over a player nowadays. Lord even get some second year blues from his breakouts. He's in my draft team. Maybe that's why I'm saying it, but I.

Love seeing Brody Grundy fit and health him firing because he's just the beasts.

Yeah, I hope he does well. What do you reckon? Hard to go past Warner or Heney? What about hawks Man? Hawks Man?

I'm going to go a little bit left to field. N I think Josh Battle could have a good game.

Because I think that was an overrated sign. He's good.

I think it's actually a bit of a I think he could be one that at the end of the year you're like, damn, he's he's improved so much, one of the most improved players.

I just think battle.

I don't know, like he'll get a pretty good He'll probably play on Hayward.

He could maybe take over him. I don't know. There's a bit of a left field one. Yeah.

As I mentioned before, I reckon Warner. This is his sort of time to step up. He's going to it's going to go against the doubters of him leaving the club and things like that. Luckie McCurdy was on midweek. He thinks he's going to stay. But there's still a lot of conjecture there. So I think on thinking about the Sydney team, the only big out really is err, Yeah, they've got all the players that we thought were out in Yeah, I'm pretty sure are we missing someone else might be someone Logan McDonald, but I don't rate him that much yet.

But I've got Tom McCart I think tomccarton could do a job, to be honest, more than a job.

Yep, good call. All right.

We'll finish off with who's going to win lads, we'll start with you there. Who's going to win in a margin?

Police?

I think Sydney I've got just in the run sheet. But I'll say maybe, yeah, six points, you've got this.

Five points? All right? Just my reasoning quickly.

I think they match up while he against us and you look at their back line, they really only tall person there is Mallekin who's like a one on one player.

But you look at our forward line.

We don't have a tall forward line, so that their back line matches up so well against our forward line.

Yeah, I agree, I agree, we were sitting.

You can get the game on their own terms. I think there will be patches where Hawthorne will look great, yeah, which they will be throughout the season.

Well, I think the Swan's by a.

Few kicks, a few kills, twelve points, sixteen sixteen on an exactly margin. Please all right, I'm going to go with Swans by six points. Very similarly, I think this is going to be goal for goal of the whole game. Really, I think, genuinely this is going to be so close Swans after that Grand Final loss. The teams that lose the Grand Final, they get smashed, always struggle at the start of the year. I was very tendered to tip the Hawks, but I'm going to go to Swans just because the home ground, their fans. The last couple of seasons have turned up in the masses. They've been fired up forty of it. It's their best average. I think last season we talked about during the week forty plus. They get their every single game. So yeah, I reckon Swan's buy point. It's going to be a nice close one, all right. I was gonna the last game. It was already last game of the round. Ma there's nine games. We might have to make it a bit more success.

Yeah, I was happy. I was going for a while. But I like it. I like it a bit of an open chat. Yeah, I asked you a few more questions at that one because we only got two games. That's all right.

GWS first calling with Sunday three twenty at NG Stadium, the.

Great energ Stage.

Actually, I've heard that it's really nice there, that GWS is home ground, Like surprising Guy one day. If you like local footy, it's a now apparently it's all right, good good food, good good vibes.

All right, let's go through the teams. We'll start off with you.

This time, Marcus, you can you can go through GWS if you like GWS.

Well, wow, I've got a few names in the lawn.

Obviously they have a lot of injuries, got nearly thirty names.

Tom Green, Shake Stringer and Jesse Hogan are the big ones out there come to mind, and I could arguably lose in the game here. But Cody Angrove, Oliver Hanniford and James Leak as the new names to the team sheet, all making their debut extended bench.

Sorry to be so.

The fact that we have two games and we have an extended that is that's crap. Come on, like we've got two games, just let us have something.

I really like Connor Oden. He's one of my favorite players in this He is a very underrated, under.

Very handsome, underrated, very handsome.

But you've obviously got the likes of Josh Kelly, cal Ward, Toby Green, and I reckon the Smalls. The Smalls are going to be huge in this game for GB West if they are a line. Brent Daniels, Toby Bedford, Darcy Jones.

Small sports about Keith as well, I don't want to leave he looks like an old man.

He is two hundred and four centimeters so he's not really a small h that's a good question. Let's find out thirty four.

Yeah, he's a bit of a journeyman, not really.

He's only been in Collingwood and this is the Lucky Keith Cup it.

Is he's short listen. Can we just say Alex Carrot Coup because he used to play for.

Yeah, we'll go to the other team now. So we've obviously talked about the Giants, quick get touch on them again. The injuries are just not good. Their fod line looks so good when you had Stringer. I don't care what you say about Stringer. He helps their forward line. Got Hogan it was the Colder medallist out that's massive.

So that's a bit of time.

How can you break your own thumb jamming it on the door before the start of the I.

Don't know what we can talk about being in this business, but that is so sus just a quick side question.

What's worse doing that having that injury, breaking your thumb on a toilet door, on a bus on a bus or signing Jake Stringer.

No, Jake Stringer is solid, just not as a bloke and he's got what is he So he got forty goals, eighty percent of.

His goals come against the bottom four teams, So you'll take it everything that's like, it's exactly the same.

I'm getting, all right, Collingwood, Leo Collingwood.

Yeah, let's just have a look at that. Hang on, I think I've got the retirement list up here, the retirement home.

I was thinking about the last couple of you're wearing the prison bars a little bit an sucked hope that gives you some trauma.

Let's give him one side. Let's give him one side.

Look, this is a very good team I think obviously no Houston has this suspension from the end of last year. But Perryman and remember member Bree, Remember they are making their club debut. So I think Perryman will be a very good signing. He's one I'm just sneakily watching for the old super coach. Got him in there, Yeah, I've got him in at the moment, But I just want to see how he does.

Was his role You've got.

Something if he's got if he's playing on ball, which I.

Think he could send me take over that Houston role as well. Yeah, but Houston's on the app for one or two on.

Yeah, they've listed Josh Decos at half back, which you'll get on.

In a second. Super Coach.

Now, very interesting pick that one their forward line. People have worried over over it, but it's probably the first time they've had it fit for a while. Like they've got mix stay in there. Myer Check who I think people sort of.

Hate on very easily. I think he's a beast. Yeah he is.

He's like, you get you know what you're going to get from him, two goals, Like you get a seven out of ten and you're.

Like, that's that's fine. What did your job mate? Hoscanalitey can do a role and then you've got.

Schultz, Hill and McCreary. Like, that's a pretty good small forward list. It can, it's got speed, it's got goal sense. I don't think their forward line is as bad as what people are saying.

I love how Hoscinality is listed at full forward. He can fly for reading into the old team.

It just makes me laugh, maybe because I don't look at the team sheets that often like that deep, but that just makes me laugh.

No way that he's coming out of.

The square just want to note as well, Reef mckinness listed a back pocket, so I think they're looking for the Nathan Murphy replacement.

Mckinness has obviously been a it's a bit smaller as well.

I think it's like mid size. I actually think he's over one ninety But yeah, they're just looking for that replacement. If he can, if he can step up in that role, he can he can maybe take him up a little bit.

Yeah, I like that he's one ninety four. I thought he was ways more than that, a bit lower for his higher He's always always around.

I know there were a couple of people in the office perhaps worried about Nick Decos with his uh.

Foot niggle, but he is playing this by and he dominate. I know it was against Richmond, but he was running figh in the half of In the first half of footy, didn't he ruck it like almost thirty He was like twenty seven and they didn't get a goal but seven I think, and like ten clearances in the first half.

He's crazy. All right, let's get into the odds.

Brought to you by tab JWS and now two dollars twenty two days ago, before all the injuries came out.

I think these odds were very very even.

Collingwood are now dollars sixty seven that I wouldn't say heavy heavy favorites, but they're starting to head towards that. So jump on Collingwood if you want to mat dollar sixty seven. One of my best bets in this one, because I think the Pies are going to at least win by a couple of goals. Is Collingwood at minus six and a half at a dollar ninety again with the line, I think that's a really good line.

I'm surprised that's not a little bit more. As we mentioned on this show.

You've got the odds, sorry, you've got the injuries there for JWS, so calling would minus six and a half just jump on that. I think that's a really good line. I think that's going to jump up over the weekend until the Sunday game, So get on that early. My best bet for a player bet, I'm going to go Josh Dakos's starting it half back. As Leo mentioned, I know that that's tough for a goal, but I'm going to go for a goal because he loves that goal sense. But the Pies love to give the hands off and get their goals from wing players and half back. So I reckon he'll push up to them to a wing at some point and get a goal. And then the twenty five plus disposals makes it a multi for four dollars forty with tab I think that's really really good value. Nick Dacos, you can't even bet on him for disposal, So I'm going for his brother Josh. He's underrated just in all sense because his brother's such a beast. So Boto was forty there with tabs, really good.

Imagine what you could be buying instead.

All right, lads, what do we reckon? Do we think the Pies are going to get the job done? Like, like I'm saying here, Yeah, I think so.

I think that you touched on Dykos kicking a goal. I think if that's to happen, I think the Pies need to like smack them and sort of everyone's getting on there.

Yeah, true, true. So if you believe in the Pie.

Smacking them, believe in Josh Daegos.

Yeah, I like that.

He has had six scoring shorts in six games against the Giants. There he gets an average one a game. One to go through the middle, and you should be all right, yep, I like it.

I like it. The Giants, I'm going to talk about their past matchups, have won the last four matches against the Pies at eng Stadium. Everyone's sort of reading into the injury so that could change this one, and the Giants won by thirty two points in the last meeting, which was also at eng Stadium. I don't think the home and away factor is there for the Giants most of the time. Crowds and then injuries and things like that. Like, I don't think their record was amazing. There was solid, but not like amazing compared to some other teams. The Pies as well, they struggled in away games last year. I know they had a lot of injuries, but in away games they were only won four of eleven and that included two draws. I know they're a bit unlucky with two draws, but the fact they had two draws they couldn't get over the line. But you've got the Pies a few good Pies recruits as we made before. I think memory Like is an underaded pickup.

I think so too.

He's on the extended bench worth point. I reckon they should just play him.

He dominated in pre season I know it was against Richmond, but he's a sole player. I know he had some mental health issues and was trying to get back out of the park and then obviously left Saint Kilda.

But well he didn't get it going. He's a good player.

I'd rather him than premiership winner one disposal Billy Frampton.

Yeah, he's not in the team. He's on the extended surely put memory yeah, memory for sure. Yeah, I really like him whenever. Whenever you watch him, he can take a mark of ahead.

He's got clean hands. Ye, he's a relatively decent kick. It's great on the lead to like.

Yeah, I feel like Saint Kilda watching them play sometimes is a bit yucky.

But every time they.

Get yucky, they're a little bit ill. But when they go inside fifty and Memories on the end of a lead, you know it's going to end up in a goal.

How long does that take for Leo to give Marcus and freeze up?

It frees up Check as well, it does and potentially even Mixtay he's just there the crash backs.

Yeah, did you think McStay can do anything? Because mcstaane needs to kick a few goals for the Pies to win. The flag like he needs to kick forty goals. He just needs to stay thirty goals.

Yeah, to be fair though Hill and Short stay fit like fits good.

Yeah, they could kick sixty between them, which I think is Bobby looks on this year.

By the way, I know it's just preseason and the Indigenous All the Stars game.

He does look on, but he looks on I like a bit of Bubble Hill like that. A few other ones.

Few stats for the players side of it, Josh Kelly, I think he's going to have to step up with no Tom Green. He averages twenty six disposals across his career against the Pies, which is the most of any of his opponents, so he loves playing against the Pies.

My check.

He kicked three goals in the last meeting and eight goals in his last four meetings with JWS. Like you said, the seven out of ten. He averages two goals against most teams if he gets I think he needs to kick three in sort of the bigger games. But if he gets two here and then the other guys chip in for two, then that's all you need for him.

So I don't mind a bit at my check.

Any other talking points three. Think, lads, I'm trying to think who else is going to make an impact? Who I think, Yeah, he's going to send the giants for the giants, like Tom Moan's a big, bustly like hard midfield. What is Aldough I know, but he's he's that body type that he's going to go win there and get the hard ball.

Probably think Callahan as well. Yeah, it was seventeen million dollars Phil Callahan.

So it's probably those two that need us to step up for me and the Tom Green with Tom Green Callahan has a big game.

Or the seven million, Yes, reckons he's worth a lot of money. I always said, not seventeen million. I didn't say.

I don't think any player in the competition is worth what he got offered.

Yep.

I want to preface by saying that. But when the news got announced, everyone around he was going, he's not that good. I'm here going, this kid's going to be the next Marcus Bonton Pallet.

Not sure about that. I'm not sure about that. It's not going to be on the same level. Will post quote that he will be is the next Bonton Pella.

He will be an elite AFL player his hand like the bond he doesn't have.

How old twenty one?

He's twenty one, mate, I'm twenty four and I'm sitting here on a Thursday and night.

Doing a show with the lads. I know what I'd rather be doing. This is lovely, this is great. I don't want to get paid seventeen million. It's not about money. It's about time with you.

Just indirectly said he spent time with us here, then have seventeen million.

Well, mate, money would just go to my It's all good we have I'll do this for no money. Now that's not true, said I already do it for no money.

That's true. You just do the socials for love it. I love it. Yeah. All right, tips and margin from you lads. We'll start off with Marcus. Well, I think we're all going to clean sweep across the two matches. I usually if there's nine matches, we're gonna have different ones because there's only two. Yeah, I think calling with injuries play a big part. Calling and interests. Injuries play a big part in this. For calling with winning, I'm going to go almost five goals calling.

Twenty seven points. Know you lok an exact margin thank you. We better have a competition going off. We hit an exact margin, we better win something you win.

From stats guy or more than us and someone hugging. I prefer a cuddle to be.

Going to stay that way anyway, Leo your tip and margin. Please buys by.

Thirty three Marcus touched on it GWS injuries and the Pies.

I think that'd be good this year. They are going to think favorites question. I think we all think that. Well, I tipped them for the flag? What did you who for the flag?

I think?

But the Pies beat me out. Yes, but that is purely only the injury front.

Usually I don't read too much in junior because like one or two and you're like, it can't change your game, But this can change a game.

I wouldn't be surprised if you was win this game either. Yeah, there you go. Before we get into the next part of the show, let's hear from our sponsor.

Because night this game is going to.

Be missed by one on the AFL. With TAB, you can stay in the game missed by one on any disposal's leg and TAB will still pay you out as a winner.

TAB where on imagine what you could be buying instead.

All Right, lads, my favorite part of the Thursday night show big calls ahead for the weekend or do we got big calls? Two games so less things to have a big bals have to be big cause. I'll start with I'll start with Marcus. This is an outrageous I'm not even goaay, it's a big cause.

Okay, let me preface this by saying, this isn't my big call. This is the boss you wanted to get on the action, our boss. Well you're saying that, he says, I'm saying on his behalf. He says, Nick Dakos comes off injured in the first quarter and go, I'm going to go the poll or opposite and I'll do my takers. Nick Dacos gets at least thirty five in a goal.

All right, that's kind of picking back on the mine.

It is, But there's a lot of Nick, we can't talk, we don't, we can't will it injury under someone on this show.

I'm gonna better than that. We're probably not, but no we are. We'll pretend we're better than that. All Right.

There's a lot of decos what's the word glaze, that's the exactly that love glaze?

What do you got talking about glaze? And he was all over the doughnuts today it was me I had one. I had to I thought you take it back? I apologize absolutely no. All right, big call please? My big call for opening round.

I think the Decos Bros combined for sixty five plus disposals and two hundred and fifty plus super Coach points. I just think the Pies are in for a big game against the Giants. Nick Dakos looks in great form, just running around like a little road runner, and Josh Dakos playing off half back. I think that role is going to rejuvenize him.

Is that a word?

Rejuvenate, rejuvenate and revitalizize.

How much is Josh Decos have a look at you on super Coach?

Yeah?

For eighty I might get him if he has a big week considering. Yeah, I don't mind that. What about you, man, men?

What was that my big call for the weekend? Can I pay you a picture there? You always paid me a picture?

Long a story, make a story out of it.

The Sidneys Ones. They kicked the first six goals of the game. They lead every single quarter, every break, halftime, The Hawks fans are like leos, turn off the TV.

He's not happy.

Then Sam Mitchell goes, sis, we need you forward, just the same as last week. Kick a couple of goals. He kicks four straight goals to try and win him the game. And then and the Hawks is by a point. But the Hawks is by a point. I think cisly if they put him forward. They need to put him forward. I think they don't need him in the back line with all those big guys. Four plus goals is my big Great you.

Did say was you did say it was a bit small as well? I love that big call because like, surely test him out forward?

Why not?

Yeah, it's going to be an in game change so that your picture makes sense. Well painted.

Thank you very much, Thank you very much. All Right, to finish off the show as we always will on Thursday night.

What to keep an eye on?

Anything you're keeping an eye can be anything can be through with the fans, players, super coach, chance anything you want.

I don't know. Interesting, how many teeth the pies there?

We go?

Yeah? Six? All right, keep keep watching.

How many times bt glaze is Nick day Koss It was the best passes to play he's seen and he's going to see this season.

Yeah, we will keep an eye on that. What are you keep an eye on there?

To start off with, I'm keeping an eye on my beloved hockball under some expectation. Yes, and see how they go round one away from home traveling up to Sydney.

We mentioned the previous show. Is it tough for six? Yes? What have you got us? Is that rageous? It was cool?

It's be cool for a reason. Set it on the prediction. So Hawthorne will start the season one and five.

It could happen. It's a tough with the win here with window with the wind coming against the bombers. Sorry bombing, That's right, That's what I meant to say.

So, yeah, just under sort of under the microscope because they touched on it a little bit on the Jocko.

There's a lot of guys that are yapper, yap, yappa and then and move like a rat and.

There they call the rascal packer.

Yeah.

Well, all the bombers early on when they were young and small with the Mosquito fleet, what's the.

What's the Harpso? What's culture? Dream time? Moving Mosquito? Mosquito? What was what? What's the Hawthorne name going to.

Be called hockball with these group of players. Yeah, that's well, it's not it's not about howkbox box. We'll got a hot boxer car HOWK box That's good. Genuinely recogniz it's good.

All right, what's.

We've got all the ours yet we're going back on the rails. Marcus keeping on. Well, I did mention the BT, but I will go a little bit more tame here. We'll go to the pies and new recruits. Obviously there's new Houston, but we are looking at Perryman.

You mentioned coach war memory back on the ball and timmy member is well, very underrated. I think he kicks at least three on the weekend for the year, really like that for the year.

There we go, there we go. My one to keep an on. I'm just looking at super coach. We love to show you're a more super coach, know than me?

Super coach players in generally got rookies, says a lot of rookies this weekend that we want to keep an eye on, especially with James.

Leak you for Sydney, few for Sydney Sheldrick.

We've got a message from Alex that's usual on this show. He reckons handily will be the sube. So maybe not him because he's a small forward, but Sheldrick's a big one.

Warner is one hundred and forty eight K. He can't be the sub. Extended benches it for him.

But they don't announce to start five, Yeah, announce it, so it probably will be in the sub.

The other one in subder got to play is Nick Daykos just I know he played Richmond in the preseason, so that I don't count that. I just want to see if he's firing after that Plantar fashi artist because that's tough on your foot.

And then again plantar fashion artists very I think I had it or something something wrong with my foot, and then well it is pretty clapped. Yeah you see my feet. Yeah, there's one. There's one too many toes for my liking. Well, you don't have six toes four toes? Yeah, uh negative. Anyway, last one, ill to look at his will daily era.

Everyone's jumped on that Bearier first part of the scen I was like, no, I'm not going to pick him really cheap.

If he goes well, then I'll be locking him in my team. You know, they say where there's a will, there's a day. Oh that's your that was trying to be your super coach.

Yes, but super coach. Actually I should talk to the people upstairs. You need to stand the character limit on your team names.

Yeah, I can't fit that in. I want to fit it in. What's your team now? Now? See Mac daddy Jesus cheesus mate. You've had that for a couple of last couple of years. Yeah, very nice. What's yours? Daddy? Draper? Oh my, what's with the daddy? Chat over some trauma. We'll not touch on him. It's not therapy on those issues. That can be on a later podcast. I'm calling it.
