Patty Mulloy grew up as one of the only brown people she knew. As an Indian international adoptee raised in the deep South she wondered: if adoption is supposed to be a story of love and belonging, why did she feel so out of place? When Patty started speaking with other adoptees, she realized she wasn’t alone. But what began as a simple curiosity, opens up a bigger investigation than she ever imagined. Accusations of human trafficking, accounts of forged documents, and the boom-and-bust of a multi-million-dollar global business leave Patty grappling with her own adoption. Through nine episodes, Patty’s intimate conversations with adoptees reveal the emotional consequences of being moved across oceans. Part-memoir, part-investigation, this series will make you question the story you’ve been told about adoption – because the story doesn’t end when a child finds a home.
