In Part 1 of this two-part conversation on Access Granted, Lowanna sits down with proud Zenadth Kes woman, former elite athlete and business woman, Libby Cook-Black.

From growing up on Country to representing Australia on the national stage, Libby shares her journey, staying grounded in culture while navigating life off Country, elite sport and new environments.

She reflects on leaving home at a young age to attend boarding school in Sydney, the challenges that came with it and how sport became a place where she found belonging, purpose and strength.

Libby also opens up about the early stages of her sporting career, her passion for creating opportunities for young First Nations women and what it looked like navigating life as a single mum, carrying the responsibility of providing and planning for the future.

In a powerful moment, she shares how, in the midst of that pressure, it was silence, stillness and connection to Country that brought her back to herself, reminding her of the strength in First Nations ways of knowing and being.

This is a conversation about identity, resilience and laying the foundations, not just for your own future, but for the generations coming next.
