Episode 2: Katherine Kwee, Founder of Keep Keto

In Episode 2 of the Keto Direct Meet the Makers Podcast, Mia sits down with Katherine Kwee, pharmacist, medical scientist and founder of Keep Keto.

Katherine’s story started with her own experience of keto. After discovering that eating low carb worked for her, she quickly realised one of the hardest parts wasn’t starting keto, it was finding convenient food that made it easier to actually stick with it.

So she started making her own.

Founded in Western Australia in 2017, Keep Keto has grown from Katherine’s homemade snacks into an Australian range of crackers, jams, relishes and pantry favourites, all built around her belief that lower-carb food can still be convenient, made with real ingredients and, most importantly, taste great.

And Katherine isn’t simply the founder behind the brand. As a pharmacist with a background in medical science, she has been closely involved in developing and formulating the products herself.

In this episode, Mia and Katherine talk about her personal keto journey, how it led to the creation of Keep Keto, what it takes to formulate a genuinely low-carb product, and the realities of growing an Australian food brand from the ground up.

In this episode, we talk about:
Katherine’s background as a pharmacist and medical scientist
Her own experience with keto and weight management
Why staying keto can often be harder than starting
How Keep Keto began with homemade snacks
Developing products that balance macros, ingredients and flavour
Why Katherine is so passionate about using recognisable, real-food ingredients
The story behind Keep Keto’s almond crackers and pantry range
What goes into developing and testing a new food product
Building and growing an Australian keto brand
How Keep Keto has evolved beyond “diet food” into everyday lower-carb pantry staples

If you’ve ever picked up a packet of Keep Keto crackers from Keto Direct, this is your chance to meet the woman behind them.
