In Sweden, Maine, the local food pantry holds a yearly fundraiser called the Full Side of Beef Raffle. The name says it all. People in the community buy raffle tickets — and the person who wins the raffle gets a full side of beef, which can end up being up to 350 pounds of meat.

This year, the big winner was Jeanne Ouellette — who donated the prize back to the Sweden Food Pantry to help feed families in need.

The Executive Director of the food pantry described Jeanne's donation as "an extraordinary act of kindness.”

While Jeanne admits she was surprised and thrilled to win, it was also an easy decision to give the food back. “I never win anything, but I wanted to support the pantry," she said. "When my name was called, I was amazed — but I immediately knew I wanted the beef to go to the pantry and its shoppers.”

A retired couple in England has spent the last 15 years fostering 59 rescue dogs in their home — and they have zero plans of stopping. Nicole and Gary Wordsworth take in pups from a local shelter whenever the dogs get too stressed or overwhelmed by kennel life.

The dogs end up staying anywhere from a couple of nights to 18 months — and come in all shapes and sizes, including everything from a cuddle-loving husky that does a "happy food dance" to a giant American bulldog.

Nicole and Gary love helping the nervous pups relax, uncover their unique personalities, and find their forever homes. While the dogs enjoy their stay, Nicole and Gary get a lot out of the experience as well.

"It is so rewarding to see them relax and find their little personality poking out — you are doing a good thing," explained Gary. "And you get to have a furry friend by your side. It's a win-win.”

Couple Fosters 59 Rescue Dogs Over 15 Years - Zack's Good News

A college student at Ole Miss named Nathan Won just wrapped up an epic 67-day, 4500-mile bicycle ride all the way from Seattle to Washington, D.C. — all to raise money and support people with disabilities.

Nathan and his fraternity brothers pedaled 70 to 80 miles a day, sometimes hitting 130 miles in a single stretch. They stopped at 45 care centers along the route to play games, sing songs, and build real friendships with residents. Along the way, Nathan personally raised over $10,000 for the cause.

After facing tough mountain climbs and long days in the saddle, he says the incredible people he met along the way made every single pedal stroke worth it.

“The main point of the trip is, yes, we cycle," said Nathan. "But also to make friendship visits. We do this to make meaningful relationships and build a connection. We don’t just go there and say ‘Hi.’ The main purpose for me is just to raise awareness and pretty much advocate for the disability community."
