What do you think is worth working for?  What is it that drives you, what do you put your energy into and why do you do it? Today Russell Williams brings us a message from John chapter 6 - just after Jesus feeds the 5000.  In this passage Jesus instructs his followers to prioritise eternal life over temporary, physical satisfaction. It's a passage where Jesus commends their exertion, but not their purpose.  The point that Jesus goes on to make is that we are safe because God does the work to save us.  It's not about our work, but trusting Him to make us secure. Russell Williams is the lead pastor of Shore Hope Presbyterian Church in Redland Bay.  Shore Hope is a growing church for a growing community, that exists to grow in Jesus’ love, show Jesus’ love, and share Jesus’ love. Shore Hope meet every Sunday in two locations: 8:30am - a traditional service held in the Redlands Presbyterian Church, 164 Colburn Ave, Victoria Point. 10:30am - an all ages service meets in the Performing Arts Complex of the Redland Bay State School. What do you think of when you picture a handman?  Is it an unrenovated house, with dozens of unfinished projects underway?  Or perhaps it's of a shed full of new and unused tools? For many of us, the stereotype of the handyman is not someone who finishes projects - but the good news is that God isn't a handyman.  He doesn't abandon half finished work or lose interest in people.  Today Rev. Allan Quak from Bible Society Australia looks at the passage from Philippians 1:6, where Paul says "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus". Today on Family Worship we're diving into one of the parables of Jesus that highlights how God's Kingdom starts small and silently transforms everything from within. The parable of the yeast (or leaven) is a short teaching where Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to yeast that a woman mixes into a large batch of flour until it rises, and is recorded in both the Gospels of Matthew (13:33) and Luke (13:20-21). Phil Smith is a retired Uniting Church pastor (Bells Faith Community, Caloundra) and currently attends The Church of the Resurrection in Bridgeman Downs, part of the Anglican Parish of Aspley and Albany Creek. We are looking at how we can live and work for God’s glory in a culture that doesn’t always respect that.  You see, Daniel was an outsider – he'd lived most of his life as an exiled Jew in Babylon, and he wanted to live faithfully for God in a foreign land. How many people did you really notice in the last week?   For those who live in a city, you could drive or walk past tens of thousands of people in a week without ever really noticing them... unless they do something wrong. It's easy to go unnoticed in a crowd, but in this message Jason Elsmore speaks about how Jesus would notice people in a crowd.  Even when Jesus was being mobbed by a crowd, he would pay attention to people and their needs.   This message is all about the woman in the crowd who needs healing, and doesn't go unnoticed. You can read about her story in Luke Chapter 8. Jason Elsmore leads Gateway Baptist Church along with his wife Susan.  Jason is also the Director of Queensland Baptists.  Gateway Baptist Church is a multi-campus church, with locations at Mackenzie, Redlands, Ormeau, Logan, Brisbane City as well as online. We all know the story of the woman who was brought before Jesus, having been caught in the act of adultery. Jesus' response to her accusers are some of his most well known words - 'let those of you without sin cast the first stone'. This is an example of someone looking into the face of Jesus and seeing the grace of God extended to humanity. It's also the story of how our worst days can also turn into our best days.
