Residents at The Parks Lifestyle Apartments in Fourways have raised eyebrows after bright red notices were placed on apartment doors when rent is overdue.

The notices are hard to miss, meaning anyone walking past, your neighbours, visitors, even delivery drivers, can see that you're behind on your payments. Some say it's an effective way to get tenants' attention.

After all, rent is a contractual obligation, and landlords have a right to recover money owed. Others believe it's public shaming. They argue that financial struggles are personal, and putting a notice on someone's front door crosses a line by exposing their situation to everyone around them.
