Her new book, Love & Lobola, tells the story of modern African romance through recipes, rituals, family, marriage and the meals that become part of our biggest life moments.
It’s inspired by her own journey from becoming a wife to preparing to become a mother and brings together more than 80 recipes, from traditional favourites to more contemporary dishes.
And because food and love are basically inseparable in South African families, there’s plenty to talk about: cooking for your partner, meeting the in-laws, feeding people during lobola celebrations, the pressure to impress with food, and whether you can really claim to love someone if you can’t cook for them!
Chef Neo Nontso joins us to talk about Love & Lobola, the stories behind the recipes and how food has become such a big part of our love stories and our culture.
