Thembisa is frustrated after being asked to buy a whole new set of art supplies for her Grade 1 child, despite already spending more than R2,000 on supplies at the beginning of the year. The problem?

The original art teacher has resigned, and the new teacher has sent parents a completely new list of materials to purchase. Now parents are left wondering why they have to pay twice for the same subject, and where they are expected to find the extra money.

Have you ever been asked to buy new school supplies because a teacher changed, a new list came out, or the school changed its requirements? Is this fair to parents, or should schools be doing more to avoid putting families under unnecessary financial pressure?
