The winner of the Best Cheesecake in Joburg award goes to Salvation Café, a quaint coffee shop situated at 44 Stanley in Milpark.

The announcement was made by Anele Mdoda and Frankie from Anele and the Club on 947.

After a week of tasting various cheesecakes from bakeries, cafes, and coffee shops from all around Gauteng, the finalists were narrowed down to five establishments that made it into the final.

Salvation Café takes the 'Best Cheesecake in Joburg' award

Remember the story we ran last year about investigative journalist Pieter-Louis Myburgh being offered R60,000 in cash to bury his corruption investigation into the Independent Development Trust?

That meeting, secretly recorded and published by Daily Maverick, showed the suspended IDT CEO, Tebogo Malaka, and the organisation’s spokesperson allegedly trying to stop the reporting.

Now there’s a major update: Tebogo Malaka has officially resigned as CEO of the IDT, effective 31 January 2026, ahead of her disciplinary hearing.

She won’t receive a “golden handshake” and authorities say her resignation doesn’t stop ongoing criminal or civil investigations into the matter.

Severe flooding in parts of Limpopo Province and neighbouring areas of South Africa has forced evacuations, washed out roads and homes, and tragically claimed the lives of dozens of people as relentless heavy rain pushes rivers beyond their banks; in Limpopo officials have reported multiple deaths connected to the floods, including children, and communities are struggling with waterlogged infrastructure and disrupted services. It’s Anele’s Story Time again and this one is not for the faint-hearted. While in Abu Dhabi for the F1 in December 2025, Anele discovered she had a tapeworm. In full panic mode, the first call wasn’t to a doctor… it was to her friend Vuvu, who tried to help remove it.

Eventually, Anele got proper medical help in Abu Dhabi, where she was given a special concoction that finally sorted the problem out.

So it got us thinking who do you call when you have a medical emergency? Is it a doctor, a family member, a friend… or that one person you trust when things go completely sideways?
