The winner of the Best Cheesecake in Joburg award goes to Salvation Café, a quaint coffee shop situated at 44 Stanley in Milpark.

The announcement was made by Anele Mdoda and Frankie from Anele and the Club on 947.

After a week of tasting various cheesecakes from bakeries, cafes, and coffee shops from all around Gauteng, the finalists were narrowed down to five establishments that made it into the final.

For years, Rachel Kolisi stood at the centre of one of South Africa’s most powerful sporting stories. As the wife of Siya Kolisi, the captain who led the South Africa national rugby union team to global glory at the 2019 Rugby World Cup and again at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, she became what many called the “First Lady of South African rugby.”

Yesterday on Anele and The Club, Anele told us about a random DM she received from a listener. It was a voice note from a woman asking for help with snacks and drinks for a baseball game.

The problem? Anele gets so many DMs that she completely forgot who sent it. So the team played the voice note on air and turned it into a full-on investigation to find the mystery woman behind the message. Listeners jumped in to help, messages started pouring in… and before long, we found her. Her name is Nicole.

Not only did Nicole come forward, but the story didn’t end there. Listeners, friends of the show, and some generous people stepped up and offered to donate snacks and drinks to help out.

What started as a random DM has now turned into a proper community moment, with people rallying together to make sure Nicole’s baseball crew is sorted.
