Zama was house-sitting and looking after someone’s parrot, Poppie. The owner told her to put the bird outside on its perch every day to get some sunlight. Yesterday, Poppie decided to spread its wings and flew away! Zama called the owner to explain what had happened, only to be told that if Poppie isn’t back by the time they return, she won’t get paid.

So now the question is: if you’re looking after someone’s pet and something goes wrong, should you still get paid, or must you take responsibility? Is the owner being unfair, or does Zama need to face the consequences?
