Live theater is back in Syracuse! Two major productions have launched at local theaters this week.

Let’s first look at Syracuse Stage and their world premiere of “Somewhere Over the Border”, a musical based on the true story of a woman who journeyed from El Salvador to the US with a mashup of The Wizard of Oz.  Brian Quijada is the playwright and has a very personal connection. “Somewhere Over the Border” runs at Syracuse Stage through March 13th. For ticket information, see SyracuseStage.org

The Redhouse Arts Center continues its 2022 portion of their season featuring Pulitzer Prize winning “Fences” which was supposed to debut in March of 2020 before the pandemic. But Ted Lange (Land-ge) of Love Boat fame returned to direct it this year and talks about why he didn’t want to give up this production. “Fences” runs through March 6th.  See tickets at TheRedhouse.org

Downtown Dining Week begins Tuesday March 1st and runs through March 13th.  Director of Communications Alice Maggiore says it’s great to be back in full force. For more information see DowntownSyracuse.com
