Dear Ted and Amy,
Iknow that you guys have been talking about different issues that pop up when the whole family gets together for the holidays. Well, that’s exactly what I’m worried about next week. I’m hosting Thanksgiving for my whole family – siblings, in laws, the kids, their kids - you name it. My brother recently got divorced from the nicest person you’d ever meet. We were all very devastated. In fact, if I had a choice, I may have picked her over my brother if I could only hang out with one of them. But I guess family is family right? The kids and grandkids loved her and it’s not going to be the same without her. I don’t know the whole situation leading to their breakup. But I’ll say there is already someone in his life that he’s dating. He called last night and guess what? He wants to bring her to Thanksgiving. I can’t really tell him not to. I always invite anyone who wants to come. But . . . the little ones are going to be VERY confused that his ex is not there and that this woman is with him. I can’t help it. I think I hate her already and I haven’t even met her. How do I convince him that a huge family gathering for a holiday is NOT the way to introduce her to the family?
