Group Therapy Thursday

View descriptionShare

It's Group Therapy Thursday time!

Dear Ted and Amy,
My friends had this huge Super Bowl party a couple of weeks ago and there were a number of people there that I didn’t know. I started talking to this really cute guy in a blue shirt and we happened run into each other a couple of times throughout the party. I didn’t get his name or contact or anything because it was just kind of in passing. But that week, I was asking my friend about him and she said she immediately knew who I was talking about because the guy was also asking about me! She gave us each the other’s contact information and we started texting back and forth and agreed to meet for a drink last weekend.
So, I walk into the bar where we were meeting and I see a guy that was at the Super Bowl party, but it’s not the same guy! I realized that my friend set me up with the wrong dude from the party. I remember having a brief conversation with him and I guess he was also wearing a blue shirt, but our time together was nothing earth shattering and he really is not my type. So, I told him that he was not the one that I meant for my friend to track down at the party and didn’t stay for a drink. I didn’t want to waste either of our time.
Now our mutual friend is really angry with me and said I should have just stayed and pretended. She said it made her look really bad and made him feel like a loser. Since when is telling the truth the worst thing you can do?
Should I have just sucked it up and then acted like I didn’t want to see him again? And do you think I should still try and track down the other guy that I did find very attractive?
Signed,
