It's Group Therapy Thursday time!

Dear Ted and Amy,
My girlfriend recently asked if we could start sharing out locations with each other on our phones. She says it’s for safety and convenience but I’m not sure how I feel about it.
I don’ have anything to hide, but it feels weird knowing someone could check where I am any time they want to. Like if I stop in at a fast food place or at my friend’s house for a beer after work, I don’t necessarily want her following my every move.
She thinks it’s totally normal and says most couples do it now. I think it feels like being monitored and I can’t shake the feeling that she doesn’t trust me. 
Is sharing your location in a relationship normal in 2026 or is it crossing a line?
