It's Group Therapy Thursday!

Dear Ted and Amy,
We hang out with a couple a lot and neither of us have any kids. I am a dog lover and love their dog to pieces. But it’s getting a bit frustrating trying to have regular “date nights” with them, because they won’t go ANYWHERE without their dog! Any restaurant that we choose has to be dog friendly, anywhere we go has to include dogs. We have a cat and don’t want the dog to come into our house so we can go to theirs but entertaining at our home is off the table. I understand that owning any pet is a commitment and totally understand if we’re out and they have to get home TO the dog, but this is really taking it to another level. We have started asking other friends to do things with us without them and they’ve questioned why they’re not included. I have gently suggested they relax their 24/7 bonding, and they just don't think it's a big deal. Any suggestions or is this just a sign we need more friends?
