It's Group Therapy Thursday time!
Dear Ted and Amy,
We live in a pretty close knit neighborhood and part of that neighborhood is a family owned funeral home that has been around forever. Earlier this year, the house right next to the funeral home went up for sale and those of us on the street were excited when a young family moved in. They all seem very nice and for the most part have been a great addition. But a couple of weeks ago, they decorated their house and lawn for Halloween. There are tombstones all over the yard, a scene that I think is part of a horror movie that depicts a lot of blood and a man in a mask with a knife, and right in the middle of their yard is an OPEN COFFIN with a (fake) corpse inside. I think it is very inappropriate and is not something that grieving families need to see as they are heading in to say goodbye to their loved ones right next door! I know it is all in fun, but it’s got the neighbors talking about how disrespectful it is. How do I approach this without alienating them from the rest of the block?
Signed,
Trying to Keep the Peace in Pulaski
