Mike and Beau close out this Thursday edition of The Morning Shift by spending some time with Former MLB General Manager for the New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles, and now Analyst for MLB Network Radio on Sirius/XM and MLB Network Jim Duquette! Mike, Beau, and Jim discuss this year’s trade deadline being one of the busier trade deadlines in recent years, if Jim was surprised that Alex Anthopoulos traded for and brought back Jorge Soler and Luke Jackson, how hard it is for a General Manager to decide if they are going to be buyers or sellers when the trade deadline comes, if it got to a point where Alex Anthopoulos wanted to do something, but didn’t want to spend a lot of money, and that’s why he brought in guys who he was familiar with that didn’t cost a lot of assets, Jorge Soler being under contract isn’t a bad thing, because of Ronald Acuña Jr. coming back from injury, Jarred Kelenic being under team control on a team friendly deal, and Soler being a quality depth piece, and what Jim thinks about Garrett Crochet saying if a team trades for him he won’t pitch in the postseason unless he gets a new contract.
