Talk about a cliffhanger! We all agree this is an excellent episode.
We learn the backstory of the casting of Mackenzie Phillips and its significance.
Not only do we break down the appearance of Ray's mom but we also dig in details of the lamb chops served at dinner.
While commenting on Clare and David's escapades, BOTH Tori and Jennie have us in shock with their revelations! SHOCK!
As to be expected, this episode brought out a lot of strong emotions for both Tori and Jennie about how much they miss their friend Luke Perry..
It's nine oh Gene one Engine with Jenny Garth and Tory Spelling. Today it's another episode of nine O two one OG. We're back, this is a new episode. We're all here.
I am.
I don't want to say excited because it's like a weird word to use, but like, I'm very excited to talk about this episode.
Same it's ever said, Yeah, can I ask you to interveen at this point and today?
But can I ask you something?
Yeah?
And I don't know if I'm the only one. Did either of you think of Matthew Perry while you were watching this episode? I like thought of him NonStop. And I don't know if it was because I watched it and there was his content from nine to two and I was all over my TikTok, or if because of the content of the episode I wanted to rewatch as episode. I don't know. I just wanted to ask you.
It didn't make me think of Matthew Perry. It just made me really miss Luke. Yeah, and I didn't like I didn't like all the the talking of death and dying and dead. There was so many references to it and it was just too much for me.
I was the same every single time when he was like, no one's dying, I'm not dying.
Like a wave, right, like a wave of.
Every time he's just like gut at you and it's like m which you know it's part of life death, but it just yeah, that was hard to watch. But yeah, now that you bring up Matthew Perry, we'd be a miss to not say how sad it is to hear the news of that, and what a great guy he was. He was a good human.
Yeah, yeah, it's so sad, so sad, and this episode's sad. It's just like, yeah, I get it.
Oh, it's so hard because like I feel that kind of the same way about Matthew Perry, Like it doesn't feel real to me. Right, I watched back this show and I look at him and I think he's still alive. And I watched back Friends and I look at him and I saw him like they won't ever in my mind be gone. They are And that's so tricky, you know.
Yeah, it's very confusing. I think I saw on TikTok. Obviously. The reason I thought of Matthew Perry is it's just the nine O two one oh episode. It's just all over my TikTok, and you see so many people talking about, like why am I.
Battled with addiction exactly for so long?
Yeah, and so many people are asking like why am I so upset over someone I didn't know? And I'm sure people felt that same way about Luke Perry. Why am I so so upset over someone I didn't know?
Because they did know, They knew a version of him that made them happy, that made them feel comfortable, that made them feel loved, and that was yeah, and made them laugh and entertain them.
I mean, My Girls and I Friends is like on a loop at our house. I mean it's like just on in the background whenever we're home, whenever we're falling asleep, like it's always on because like I think two channels that have it on all day and all night, The Happy Place. Yeah, and I'm still watching it, And like I said, I just kind of don't remember. I purposely don't remember the reality.
I think that's okay.
Yeah, I think you have to do that with nine two one oh two. I think that when I watch I try not to think about it.
Yeah.
This episode was particularly hard to watch and took me out of the episode a lot. Real life took me out.
Ooh, and that never happens?
No, had it happened almost the whole episode? And I don't know if it was the timing too possibly?
Why don't we talk about it? This is Season five, Episode nine, Intervention air November second, nineteen ninety four.
Synopsis. Dylan gets duped and walks right into his own intervention. Kelly gets ready to give good face on the cover of a teen magazine. Donna introduces Ray to her preppy parents. Meanwhile, we meet Ray's mom, who is clearly money hungry, and Doctor Martin accidentally watches David Silver's sex tape You're Welcome, Doctor Martin with Claire.
Directed by Scott Powlan, Written by the Wasserkleines, Jessica Klein and Steve Wasserman.
I loved every storyline, every single one.
I never hit fast Ford. Is that a thing you've had when you're watching on your phone? I know I didn't. I didn't. I watched every frame. Yeah, it was like in it.
Yeah. This this was my hardest one ever to not start the next one.
You say that every week.
This one really like, it's so weird to say, but I love this episode. I hate this episode. But I love this.
Episode when when it opened and we see Carol Water, I want to see Cindy Walsh.
Uh.
When we see Cindy in Dylan's house, Ye, well, swas socks. I thought that was nice little touch, the way socks were like hanging off fIF feet and they were all dirty. I like that. But when I see Carol in on that in that scene with Luke, all I could think of was Carol telling us that she used to have the hots for Luke. Oh my gosh when she was or she was, She's always like.
Oh my gosh, she did. She went on and on whispering sweet nothings, maybe not nothing's but or maybe not sweet but in her ear.
For me this I still was very in it, and I'm like, oh, Mom is at the door, like this is how bad it's gotten, and this is how serious it's gotten. That like missus Walsh is dealing with this now.
I know he still did the pull up where he pulled his shirt up chest every even with Cindy there, even with Mom there. You gotta do the pull up and then clean up a lot of denim, A lot of denim?
Why so many jeans on one couch?
Wow?
What does he never that's.
Where he takes his pants off every day. I guess I didn't know.
Let's go with this was on a key.
I've never seen this technique.
I was like, and.
What I have seen that in movies and it was like an old school thing, right.
I don't know. Yeah, I had never seen it done like that.
Super gross and dirty yet not sanitary if you're too drugs. I'm just saying, yeah.
I also think for people not our age, so say like the next generation that watched Nino two and oh, Mackenzie Phillips. That was very legant but doesn't land maybe on everybody. But that was really the time sort of after she was so prolifically talking about getting sober right her troubles on one day at a time, and so it was really.
Super smart to cast her as that.
I remember, do you remember the hubbub when then they when they found out they were getting her for that role.
No, tell me, I don't remember that.
No, that's the extent of that story.
It was just like, ah, yes, really great that we have a smart smart smart Yeah.
Because of her whole story, Yeah, it really blurred of TV and real reality.
I was like, oh, well, Michelle Phillips was very close with my dad and worked a lot with him, So that was probably that connection immediately. But also yeah, very timely and smart to bring her on.
So China Phillips from Wilson Phillips and Mackenzie Phillips are they they're half since right, they have the same father. I think China Phillips mom is Michelle.
Correct, yes, who was great. So One Day at a Time that Mackenzie Phillips became famous on our kids now know. One Day at a Time very different the new version. When I tried to explain the old version, they look at me like I had three heads and they're like, what are you talking about? There was another version. I was like, well, hello, you know these things happen, you've experienced it. There's a first incarnation, this the og and then they you know, do remakes or reboots and others. But they didn't believe me.
Never Schneider, Schneider.
I had no idea that was a new One Day at a time. Oh my gosh, already on the television set or has.
Already come and been canceled?
It done?
Yeah, it had like two seasons.
Wait was it just like a kid's show.
No, that was a Latin version of the original.
Correct.
Yeah, I know, I remember my kids watched.
It, liked it.
Yeah, yeah, rita moreno ah, there you a. But I only watched the original with Valerie Burton, Nelly and Mackenzie Phillips. I mean we could just you could you could literally six degrees of Kevin Bacon this for one hundred years, because it could just you could go on to Valerie Burton, Ellie and then you can get yourself to Eddie van Halen and just go on and on.
Wow, how did you guys feel about this? I mean everything sort of revolved around the Dylan storyline except for Donna and uh and then David's little little escapade with the video.
Yeah, and Claire's kind of Claire and Valerie bumping into each other at the mall Rando. For me, it was tough nat to Dylan. M that was very like he really stepped up and was like, you stole from me and you're you'll die, and it was just like and that might have been another thing that took me out, Like this episode, I I was just blurring everything.
Oh the two of them, oh huh m hmm.
My goodness, it's crazy. I can't still No, doesn't make sense to my brain.
Yeah.
The intervention scene must have been tough to watch for you guys.
No really, I mean, aside from Dylan then Nat saying dying, dying, dying, that taking that out tough? How just heavy.
It's so heavy, and it's Donna is very compelling in that scene too, where you talk about you talk to him, and Steve is really the reason that he sort of stays. It was just very heavy and serious and gratefully so.
Yeah. And then when Andrea says, Dylan, we don't want to bury you too.
Yeah, too much.
Yeah. I remember having that little mini monologue, and you know, I get nervous with those, especially when everyone's around, having to say words like that and just being like, okay, so happy when Andrea has her line and jumps in and I'm like, you take it. Sit back in my yellow fuzzy sweater, lie yellow.
Very excited, very happy to be at the intervention.
Yeah.
I was surprised by a couple of things. One is, I thought Nat was amazing at the interven I liked Kelly sort of. I think that's where you say I was humiliated. Donna talks Steve obviously. I was surprised that I actually don't know why I remembered it differently. For some reason, I was expecting mister Walsh to come in and sort of hit it home and get him to rehab. I was surprised that that didn't happen. Or Brandon it was.
I don't even really say anything, right, They really didn't.
Did they cut that? It might have been too long?
Oh interesting that when you first when you shot it.
There was one shot where I could I don't remember who was walking across and might have been Andrea or Steve. I think it was Steve. And he walks by you and me on the couch, and you can see we kind of break character for a second, like I don't know what happened. Maybe he said something that made us laugh, or but I can typically on my face see that I was trying to not laugh, like laughing, Oh oh wow.
You know he said something under his breath?
Oh probably, yeah wow. But I was like, oh no, you can't have a smile at the intervention, Kelly.
Why didn't they cut around that.
I have to go rewatch.
It's so quick, I don't know you'll see it.
Do they do something on a heavy scene like that where that's all you shoot that day, or there's sort of an emment before they just expect you to just Okay, you're gonna have one of the most serious scenes of the whole series.
Took hours, but I'm sure there was other scenes that day.
There were definitely day.
Brandon sang geezed up? Really, what does that mean? Like, I don't know a term that was a term for coked out back then. I don't know, but it was like I was like it geezed up. I don't know. And this is when he slips back into his Brandon kind of no emotion. No, I don't know when he does that, I want it more. I just saw something last episode I wanted to like.
Yeah, yeah, we ended up being like stepping up and being a great friend, and then we didn't even really touch on that.
Great yeah contribute.
Really when it opened back up, I was expecting him to be under the denim, Like, why was he gone? Now?
He was gone right right?
His mommy, that's fair.
Yeah. Cindy is very upset throughout the episode.
She's yes, she's very worried about Dylan. Yeah, but that's just her nature. Her mother Lee. I think if it was anyone she would have felt been the same way.
Well, I feel like she would have no problem with Valeria in the realm.
What are you talking about?
Yeah, but like and that whole sort of thing was happening where Valerie was gonna leave, like she just couldn't. They just are not connected to Valerie like they are Dylan, and you feel that, You're like, they're very like, we've got to do this for you, Valerie because we're friends with your parents. They don't. I haven't gotten the impression that they genuinely care about her, yet they're obligated to do this.
Yeah, Well she kind of makes it hard because she's constantly lying to them, and I think, yeah, I think when you have a teenager, you're always wondering if they're lying to you, uh, in general. But they just really don't have any kind of like footing to have a real relationship, that connection of being able to trust her and believe what she's telling them. So I feel like whenever they look at her, they're like, who knows if this is true or not right?
And the relationship with Dylan and Valerie is so horrific, Like I couldn't decide it's going to say horrific or horrifying. It is so bad toxic.
That is like both of them just you know, feed off of yeah.
And there in their weakness, their weakest moments are what keep them together. And that's yes, a good relationships set up. And she seems like she really knows it in the episode, like she, I don't what happened at the end of watch the last night. I've already forgotten it. This is bad. Did she did she she leaves him and then he yeah, okay, I wonder what will happen now? I mean, will she I just want I feel like she's reaching the point where she's going to be like, I'm done with you.
I don't know, because if he were to change, maybe.
Well, at first he has to survive.
It doesn't make any sense. When you chase the dragon, you definitely are going to drive off a whole hole and.
Drive the heroin Haro win.
That's heroin chasing the dragon.
I don't know, but I mean all I know is they said ha yeah, and I was like, oh my god, this is now, this is now really bad.
Yeah right, and hear that word, You're like, yeah, the.
Guy, what's the guy? The actor's name that plays the dealer that we all own.
Oh yeah, Oh, he's quite a smart drug dealer because he knows he just has to give him one little taste of that and then coming back before humped, so he gives it to him experience.
Yeah.
I've also mentioned this before, but for some reason, every time we go into that pool hall, it's nineteen seventy seven, like even the cars outside the pool hall like it just not that pool hall.
But I think, isn't that right on Venture Boulevard or it used to be. I don't think it's there anymore.
Outside or the inside inside's on our I think, what what?
Oh?
You know what? You know?
So you think you shot in the pool hall as opposed to on the set. I feel like there's so many scenes in it that they would built it.
I shot on the pool.
Oh you shot on the pool table.
I did. That's what I was about to say, but I don't give anything away. Next, it was on a set. It was on a set.
Did they create it though? Because maybe it never? It was because it was massive, so you could see in certain shots, like down the length of it. There was a ton of tables in that, And I remember that was on Ventura ble.
Mcause that was the real place. It looked real.
What was that called still there?
How?
How house? You know, the h house like h A.
H o u z z h h a u U s oh house like like a dog halls pool holls oh halls.
H a l L nope U s like who's on first? Not you? I'm sliding into home and my pants are full of something different.
You love doing that.
I know. I'm sorry, I know you.
It makes not it makes me happy.
Okay, wheat, wheat? Is that place still there? And if it was, you know when you went there back in the.
Day, remember Q's Santa Mom.
We loved a good dive.
Feeling. That place was too bright bright.
We don't like break.
This house.
It's crazy if you look up, just as Fantasia Billiards now is on is in Burbank mm hmm, And I remember Q's. I don't know if that thing's still.
I don't think it's still there anymore. I think it's like a marmalade or something.
Now it's a marmalade. First of all, was there yep? Yep?
Oh man, so much to discuss. It's Lamb dinners at Donna's, which Lamb.
They kept saying, Lamb, we.
Just talked about the accident one seconds. Yes, it's so intense and scary. Can you imagine that happening? I mean, I've lived up on that ridge and I know those highways and it terrifies me. Oh my god, and now my daughters are driving on that terrible Yeah, it was very James Deany, you know, with the car. It's the same sort of you know, thing that happened to him Upfair And.
I don't think he's just gonna like be fine.
That can be good. It's not good. I'm guessing the next episode it's going to play in the hospital. You're right, Okay, let's talk about that. Your Lamb chopped dinner. Oh my god, I didn't know you guys. I didn't know you ate Lamb. How would she serve Donna? Lamb? I don't get it.
I love it, but growing up, my mom, it just all took me back to my childhood.
Did you guys have LAMB growing up?
Yes, Lamb chops frilly panties and lit it up like that, Lamb chops with What are you talking about? What little panties?
What was that part?
What do you mean?
What was the lamb chops with the frilly panties.
Oh you don't have that. Oh, it's like a little white like paper and like so your your fingers don't get dirty when you're holding the lamb chop when you're at a fundy dinner. No, but it's like white. It's almost like the doily.
Yeah, I found it.
We never benny Hana hat, but with a little ruffle on the edge.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah, that's what the fancy people used to keep their fingers from getting great. See that's right.
Yeah. Or you could have a little lemon water like dipping bowl afterwards to like wash your fingers. But just like the serving platter coming in and.
Her name louse seal Zeal but yeah yeah.
But growing up, my mom like was very etiquette. She like I went to etiquette school or one of those classes, and like I learned how to set a table in the proper manners, and that was very important to my mom. And so I just remember always being nervous if someone came with me to dinner, like my friends or something, or a boy usually my friends, like, oh gosh, I hope they cut the right way or take it or put their knife the right way when they're placing it on their plate, like it was things like that that. I was like, my mom clocking it, and I feel like Folice, Yeah, she clocks us.
It's so weird, like it's your life basically, and you were nervous because you were bringing rape prue it over. I know you were nervous about how he was gonna be.
That's so funny.
Wow, that that must that's very nice of them to write your characters so similar to yourself that you had so much to use on camera. You just had to, you know, in.
All fairness, my mom was not like that, Like she never cared if a boy had money or you know, that wasn't important. She was like, I guess we had enough money. It didn't matter.
We have enough money for everyone.
Yeah.
What's your take on Ray's mom? Of course I remember her being more horrible, but she's sort of sweets there.
Yeah.
I feel like I've seen her in a min trillion things.
She was on for a couple of seasons, so maybe it was just every episode of this show. Now.
How about her line, It's just as easy to fall in love with a rich girl as a poor one.
I like that one. It was very I don't know, it's very like I don't know Mystic Pizza yea or John Hughes movie. Like you know, that was one of the lines that would be said, like yeah.
In the opposite of what you normally here, too easy was falling rich with fall in love with rich guy.
She was great.
Yeah, she seemed for some reason, my memory of her was much more negative so far.
She sort of just gets there now.
Yeah, I think so, well, yeah, because my memory is coming from somewhere. But she really wants him to be happy, be accepted, have this opportunity date this.
I feel like she's got moad same.
What do you mean she's not genuine?
No, and he lies, He says, no, it was wonderful. They really accepted me.
It is he gonna say, how embarrassing and shaming poor guy. I thought he was great when he stepped up and he said, here's where I come from, Here's I don't know where I'm going, and he was super honest. I really liked him in that moment.
Yeah.
His acting yeah m hm, I mean yes.
And the dialogue but you know what I mean, like I yeah, sorry, it's but yeah, the character and the act and the actor but I don't know that that's got to be hard in that moment to be like, hey, I'm just gonna lay it out here for you.
He really went over doctor Martin and then.
Felia Martin was always because yeah, yeah, he's like a big teddy bear. Yeah, but he probably saw a little more than you wanted to of David Silver's naked, but pointed right at the camera. I'm sure because that's not a good angle. I'm just gonna put it.
Out because you see the balls hanging from the back.
You don't want to shoot your sex tape from the back, you guys. Definitely.
That was a funny sort of bit.
If you take anything away from this podcast, it's that you do not want to shoot your sex tape from the back.
Jenny and Torri here to educate.
From the feet you don't you want to shoot up at it.
See that you're welcome.
Oh god, it was cute, but I was like, oh, okay, stop Claire and David, I don't want to see it, and I don't know why you'd want to film it, but okay, it was a lot of eek. Wait did you ever see do you give her film yourself?
Me?
Oh god? Oh god, what what in real life?
Like as she goes to Amy because she doesn't want to hear my story.
Yeah no, no, I'm going to get to you. I'm saving it.
No, Jenny, you.
Know, why are you turning so red?
Then?
Oh my god?
Oh right?
What in college like sorority parties? Something was not just the cameraman moving around taking pictures at parties.
I'm trying to think of anybody like if it was ever a story like that, I don't think so.
How about you tour?
I was a participant, but it was not my idea. There was something. It's okay, you guys. I was married. Uh, it was not some weird thing. And it was Valentine's Day and I was like, oh it's cute. It was cute until someone stole it off our computer.
And how did you see it?
See? This isn't the part I don't know. Okay, well you know, I don't know.
They're like Pam and Tommy.
I'm terrified right now this is coming out.
No, no, it's gone till now. Okay wait wait wait wait should we not bring this back up? This happened long ago.
It could ignite a firestorm, you guys.
I looked really good. Back then. I you know what, if there was ever a time and I should have done it, I would never do it. Wouldn't do it then. But oh it was after just two babies and I was on fuego. But that said, it wasn't filmed from the back babies, wasn't filmed from the back.
Good, thank you. Okay, you say it was after just two babies like most women, that's that's then you're like, but you popped out three more.
So I did well, dan zipped and took them out. There was no popping out. But yes, yes, yes, correct, but it just sure it never you know, things change. But anyway, the yeah, so it was wait wait is this correct? Asking easton? Easton? I'm here, so I'm asking for a friend. Is so, if you were to film something and then put it in a little like one of those this is you know fifteen years ago, fourteen years ago, a little card, and you had it in your computer, right, it would be on your computer. And if someone took that off your computer, took the card, yeah, that would happen, could happen.
Yeah, that could happen.
But I mean if it's digital, the rule is they say there's you can never really delete that stuff.
So think about how Easton goes into your computer. It was on the computer is the problem. But the computer wasn't stolen, but it was taken off the computer.
So we went to we went to Hawaii with the kids, and there was a friend staying at the house and the friend stole stuff and took this off the computer and only found out because they went to Vivid video to try to sell it.
You are Pam and Tommy. This is Pam and Tommy.
It never happened. It was shut down.
But yeah, that story that a happy ending. Let's hope it stays that way.
Hey, you said happy ending, you know what. And at the end of the video there was a happy ending. But no one will ever see that video and you would puke in your mouth if you saw it.
I'm getting grossed out right now.
Okay, so let's stop and moving on.
Jenny needs to answer the question.
Jen Jan Oh my god, Okay, bye, I love this. Don't listen to this or my mom, this is too much, you know what?
She would laugh?
Okay, everyone, does you know how you have a day in the sun? Yeah, the sun is a natural aphrodisiac.
Is that true?
Well, it is for me, okay, maybe I don't know. It always makes me just want to get naked. So that's what happened in in outside. It was I'm not going to get specific because I don't want anyone to know the location of this. It was it happened outside. And then like a week later, I said, big, we have video cameras outside our house, so you know that means and I and then I looked. I looked it up on my app on my phone, found it and have never left harder.
Oh my gosh, Like this is oh unintentional film exists on ring.
I don't know if it's I don't know what the app is called. I can't remember spectral, but yeah.
Okay, she said, babe, so I know who it is. And then she confirmed drink so I know the time period. So okay, okay, okay, do.
Your detective work. Yeah, but anyway, this was not something you would want to get out. After viewing it, I realized, yeah, definitely, that would be so embarrassing.
Oh my gosh, for both I bet you. So many people don't think about that, right, which part they're like think because you forget about those cameras, you know, Like, yeah, they're just chrriity cameras right, like your ring and all those things. Oh my gosh.
So that's my story, thanks and graduating?
Is it deleted? Is it still there? Asking for a friend?
Well, I had it.
Could I view it one day and laugh at you?
Oh my god, you would laugh really hard?
Stop it?
Oh yeah, let's leave it.
Okay.
So Claren David did a sex tape. Yes, intentionally, right right, ew, that's all I had to say to that too, And then I was on the edge of my seat screaming no not.
The not antics of it were sort of nice because the episode is so heavy that it was like it was sort of ash breath of air? Is that breath of fresh air?
That one?
Yeah, that one, Let's go that one because the episode is so heavy.
So I did.
I sort of enjoyed the three's company of it all, like, oh, the type is most like.
Me too, me too. We were looking everywhere for it. Clara Claire Claire's funny when she's funny like that like her comedy and yeah, like very big and broad, she's really good at that.
That all worked for me.
Yeah, I liked it.
Yeah. We I have a question going back to your fancy dinners. What is aspac?
Oh my gosh, thank you, thank you? Uh.
Aspect.
I don't think it's asked back.
I thought literally wrote it to how'd you write it back? Or aspect A.
S P E c K question mark, question mark question as.
Pack You just have ass and back on your mind for multiple reasons now, and I think it's aspect. It's spec correct as pic.
I hate it's not.
The ass pick or meat jelly is a savory jelatine with a meat stock set in mold to encase other ingredients.
No, not sudden mold. No no, no, you guys sat in a mold like Wait, I thought it was a tomato jelly. No, it's tomato. It's a tomato. I assume I've never been served this.
You.
Donna says something about a tomato.
Who asked for it?
Again, No one asked for it.
How did it come up?
Because it was served? Oh? And police is like, ray, do you not like your aspect?
I like that impersonation? Can you talk like that for the rest of the show.
It's look like if I were to describe it, I would describe it vegetables in a jello.
It's like a discussing, I would it's it's a vegetable, although tomatoes are fruits. Isn't true? But almost like a gospacho but a jello mould version. Yes, what how I would read it?
Thank you for going to your manners class and sorry and.
I did probably being served this and being like thee Yeah, but it's made with a meat stock. That threw me off. I don't believe so Rath.
What else did I appreciate about this episode?
Oh?
I also appreciated that Dylan used as he called a beeper. Oh yeah, and Valdos, did you just beep up your dealer? Did you just beep your dealer his drugs?
PAJR beeper beeper we called it beepers. Oh remember who is beetpepeep ut? Yeah.
I don't know the drug scene. Sorry, I don't know the drug scene. Maybe you all don't either. I wonder if this seems over the top, if it seems not accurate, like I only know how to I only know it from watching like nine O two one. Oh, so I have no idea like if.
It wait wait wait, you only know about drug use from watching nine O two one?
Oh? I know her?
I know it from nine O two one oh, where was somebody? I don't watch you for I'm a square? What else was a show where there's a lot of drug use? Keep for Sutherland did drugs on twenty four? Jack Bauer did? For a minute. What's another show where they really kind?
Did they do that? They didn't do anything serious like that on Meloe's Place or like Party of five?
Do they?
No? But Scott Wolf was a drunk. Remember he was a drinker, right, I think on Gossip Girl was there already like but it was light, like I don't remember anything so heavy.
No, they two one goes down this road multiple times, as I know, and it's like so heavy, it's like they you know, it's it's how we all know and love this show because it goes from zero to one hundred like that and then back to you know, zero.
Zero across the same episode.
Yes, all in the same episode. No, this one's really dragging out, which I'm appreciate. I appreciate the you know accuracy of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, a little longer than one hour.
Yeah.
And another thing that I was in by in this episode, And please tell me what you were intrigued by. But they said the word shut up. Twice, which I found really odd.
Like.
Shut up is not a word.
I justesn't.
I wasn't allowed to say shut up to anyone because my parents didn't like it. So for me, it like was like, ah, shut up, that's like saying that the word ain't to me.
Right, which you know from last episode threw me over the edge and Dyl wait dyl inside it right.
Yeah, and he said shut up in this one.
Oh my gosh. I wasn't allowed to say shut up, And now to this day it's like one of my biggest pet peeves. Like my kids, they say a lot of things, but when I hear I was like, no, no, you know that's not a word we say in our house to each other.
Use the word shut up. And since I school or.
Something, I usually like just like shut up right right right right, shut up. That's not like family family, Like no, shut the front door. No, you didn't say that.
No, you can't just say shut up to somebody. It's not No.
I haven't heard that for a long time except for when it's like, oh, shut up, yeah right. I was obsessed with the mall that Valerie and Claire bumped into each other at, and I was looking for I saw Chicos and then I saw Rebel, and I couldn't figure out where that mall was. But you guys know it in the valley.
I think you a number of times lots.
I feel like we lost Aaron at that mall. Am I wrong? Am I wrong? Someone?
Oh my gosh, I don't remember where that was? But there isn't there a carousel in the middle of that mall?
Yeah? Is it on Ventura Edu?
Yes, okay, mall.
It's just like an outdoor, outdoors strip mall. Election.
Yeah, but you guys, it's a total mall.
I was trying to remember Rebel, the clothing store. Rebel.
That was because you've had underground and then you go up and then it's like two levels, like yeah, like, what's the steak Restaurant's there? Now? Larsens Larcens is there?
Yes, that's that plate? No way, that's like people are like that. I I am Brentwood. So it looked like our mall where CBK is Wood.
But it's great, it's like that.
Yeah. And the other thing was, finally someone gave me clarity on the haircut that I am sporting.
Oh, tell us, Okay, that apparently.
I'm very hip. It's called a wolf cut. Never heard of that either. I didn't know what they were talking about, but I was like, wow, Kelly was sorry.
We skipped a whole storyline of the seventeen magazine. And I actually have a flag on the play here. I do not think that somebody who had a disordered eating that it would be so trivialized that they have disordered eating again, like oh, Kelly can't eat anyway, Like Okay Brandon.
I mean, I guess making light of it is. It's one way that a group of friends would deal with it, I guess.
But all I had, like an extreme issue?
Was it extreme?
Well it wasn't. In right, it was one episode correct, But in reality it triggered me because I'm like, she hasn't she has an issue. She should be right back in therapy.
I know.
I know.
What if you have have an eating disorder and.
Then everyone was like, Oh, it's fine, she's not eating. It's fine.
It's not something that you like kind of bring up in jest or it's not something you want talked about in front of other people. Generally speaking, people don't just like it's not like a badge of honor or anything.
No, Yeah, that was a little weird.
It was just like, wait, that's not how nine oh two one oh would even do it.
In my opinion, they wanted to get it in there, but the way they pass over and it's light and it's like.
All right, they should have been more like responsible about it. Yeah, And how do you feel about being on seventeen magazine or in seventeen magazine?
Well, I'm hungry just thinking about that poor girl not eating, which is ridiculous. I mean, does it even make that big of a difference if you don't eat like two days before your shoot. I don't think so.
I think so. But she didn't know, young kid.
A big deal and it sounds like no big deal the shoot, Like it's like you and some other not models, but girls from college get to play around and we'll take some pictures of it. It wasn't like that sound fun, big deal, everyone's making it.
I was glad they pointed out how much Kelly Taylor's mom tries to make it about her a lot, and that the seventeen editor was like, oh, could you step out for a minute. Yeah, that's sort of an important Yeah, poor Jackie.
And I was watching this with my daughter and her boyfriend, and they said they were listening. I think it was this scene and Jackie was going on to Kelly about something and he goes, wow, this sounds familiar.
No.
I was like, no, no, do you you heard me talking to her like Jackie talks to Kelly? Oh my god?
No?
Or he just mean like sometimes when you guys are into something, like you keep going with it. Oh my god.
Wow.
I kind of love that he has that relationship with you, that he can say that, that's reads. Imagine.
Sometimes I'm like, don't you mean missus Garth, don't you want to show me some freaking respects Abrams?
But okay, that's funny, are you guys missus Garth and missus spelling?
What do you No? No, No, that's your mother.
That's me me that I hate miss Garth sometimes yeah, miss miss miss Garth, miss miss Garth.
If you're nasty.
And apparently we are naked?
Yeah, or naked?
Anything else do you want to talk about?
I mean, I'm into the whole episode. Where'd you go to Montezino's onto Zino's what Brandon gave this kiss on the cheek? I'm into the where what? What's not that that dinner was that Montazino's where you couldn't eat? But I might have made that up. I read.
I was wondering where it was.
I felt like it was at Stanley's for some reason. I'm venture Boulevard.
But he had chopsticks.
There was.
Maybe wait what was called Montezina?
Was it like dim sum? And then some wait what was it? Why do you have chopsticks? And he's like, oh, though you could get those, yeah for the Chinese chicken solid. Oh it's so good at Stanley's. Oh my god. But I thought I saw like little like oil like on casinos or just an outside different place. I don't know.
M the whole thing's great. I just Dylan and Valerie are real bad.
What do you guys? Give it?
Oh?
Ten?
Obviously they give it a nine and a half.
Yeah, give it a nine high marks from you guys, y Yeah, Winter, Winter, Winter, it's a winner.
Chicken dinner or lamb dinner? There you go about? No, No, did we did we.
Do a synopsis?
Yeah?
When did this air? Anyone remember?
Oh you can go back and look. Let me scroll up.
I'm feeling like it was a Sweeps episode November.
You're right, sweep there we go.
Oh my god, we're so on the same calendar schedule, are.
Wild?
It's November three?
And that ending, yes, that ending had sweeps written all over it, like love literally, yeah, they.
Did not talk in sweepstakes and like Ed McMahon, Oh, who is it now? Nobody?
Oh, I feel like it's John O'Hurley.
Ryan Seacrest.
No, I think it's John O'Hurley from Seinfeld.
Oh it really is.
Maybe, No, I think you're right actin so.
Yeah, yeah, so our next episode, everybody is coming up. Season five, episode ten, The Dreams of Dylan.
Oh my god.
Oh no, the dreams.
Not the dreams, oh no.
Oh my god, the history of my life. This is one of my favorite episodes. Just I get to kiss Luke Perry. I'm just saying, I'm just saying it right now. I'm sorry, you guys, not spoiler. It's spoiler. Oh my god, it's it's sorry. I'm a fifty year old woman and I'll forever be grateful for this episode because I, just like every other woman and man out there, wanted to kiss Luke Perry and I got to kiss him in this episode. Oh my god.
Sorry, Yeah, we just saying we should buckle up for this. Yeah, yeah, this is gonna get weird. I have a feeling it's gonna get weird because I remember doing it and thinking, what are we doing. I don't understand, but it'll be interesting. So I'm looking forward to watching it, and we'll see you guys next week.
Love you guys,
