Aussie tennis star Alex de Minaur's starting to wonder if he’ll ever overcome his quarter-final stumbling block at Grand Slams, after an error-riddled 4-set loss to Felix Auger-Aliassime at the US Open. De Minaur has lost all 6 of his Grand Slam quarter-finals. Auger-Aliassime will now play world number 1 Jannik Sinner for a spot in the final. 

The AFL Finals begin at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday night, with minor premiers the Crows hosting the Magpies in the qualifying final. The Crows have lost just one match at home this season.

Souths coach and former copper Wayne Bennett says Brandon Smith has been unfairly targeted by police, describing his legal issues as trivial. Smith will play against his former club the Roosters on Friday night night, despite facing drug supply and betting charges. A Rabbitohs win at Allianz Stadium could result in their bitter rivals missing the finals.
