US Iran strikes breach international law

View descriptionShare
US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran have raised serious concerns among international law experts about violations of fundamental post-World War II prohibitions on the use of force. Dr Tamer Morris from Sydney University explains that the attacks lack legal justification under international law, as Iran posed no imminent threat and the UN Security Council was bypassed. The breach of these fundamental norms threatens global stability and leaves middle-power nations like Australia vulnerable, as countries can no longer rely on international law for protection and may instead turn to military build-up and nuclear weapons programs.
