The NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon has extended the ban on large protests across metropolitan Sydney for another two weeks due to ongoing safety concerns following the Bondi attack that claimed 15 lives. Smaller gatherings remain permitted but cannot spill onto city streets, with the decision to be reviewed in a fortnight ahead of potential Invasion Day protests on January 26. A temporary solar-powered menorah memorial, created by Jewish artist Joel Adler, has been installed at Archer Park to honour the victims while plans for a permanent memorial are finalised.
