Starmer refuses to join US strikes on Iran

View descriptionShare
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has refused to join American and Israeli strikes on Iran, stating his government does not believe in regime change from the skies and questioning the legality of the attacks. Starmer, a former international lawyer, told Parliament that Britain has learned lessons from the Iraq war and will only allow US personnel to perform defensive strikes from British bases. The stance marks a significant strain in the relationship between Starmer and US President Donald Trump, who criticised the UK for taking too long to allow use of its bases.
