An 85-year-old Sydney grandfather, Chris Baghsarian, was kidnapped from North Ryde at 5am last Friday in a case of mistaken identity. Police have raided an isolated property in Dural in Sydney's northwest, where they believe he was held for at least some time, linking kidnapping videos circulating in the underworld to features inside the house. Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Marks has confirmed Baghsarian was not the intended target, and ransom demands allegedly sent to another person's grandson are forming part of the investigation.

These drones cost only $10,000-$20,000 to produce, feature fibreglass construction with GPS systems and 50 kilograms of high explosive, and fly low and slow to evade radar detection. The drones, powered by simple motorbike engines, are being mass-produced and can overwhelm sophisticated defence systems like the Iron Dome by attacking in groups of five to ten, making them significantly more cost-effective than the million-dollar interceptor missiles required to stop them.
