Iran's top diplomats have arrived in Geneva for indirect talks with the United States as military tensions escalate in the Middle East. The US has assembled its largest military presence in the region since 2003, including two aircraft carrier groups and hundreds of fighter jets, demanding Iran end its nuclear program, ballistic missile development, and sponsorship of terrorist organisations. Australia has ordered the evacuation of embassy staff families from the region as Secretary of State Marco Rubio warns that Iran refuses to negotiate on ballistic missiles, while new US sanctions target 30 Iranian companies, individuals and ships.
