Trump met with executives from major oil companies at the White House to negotiate deals for access to Venezuelan crude, demanding at least $100 billion in private investment. Following the capture of President Maduro by US forces, White House officials have begun diplomatic discussions in Caracas, with nine political prisoners released and a planned second wave of military action cancelled.
