A popular weight loss tablet is soon banned from retail after the Therapeutic Goods Administration deemed its manufacturers had provided no evidence of weight-loss effectiveness.

On Monday, the medicines regulator decided to cancel the weight loss tablet, FatBlaster Max, from the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods.

Dr Trent Watson, a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Newcastle, told 6PR Mornings presenter Liam Bartlett that the tablet's sponsor, Cat Media, registered the treatment without mentioning any weight loss properties.
