'Stain on WA': State urged to ban Nazi swastika

View descriptionShare

Victoria was the first to take action on this, with NSW to follow, while Queensland and Tasmania have pledged to also prohibit the Nazi swastika symbol.

Should WA also ban the hate symbol? Is it a freedom of speech issue, or does it go deeper than that?

Dvir Abramovich, chairman of the Anti Defamation Commission and also Director of the Program in Jewish Culture and Society at the University of Melbourne, spoke to Liam Bartlett about why WA should take the opportunity to follow suit with other states and ban the symbol, as it's "the modern face of Hitler and a pure symbol of evil".
