Tapping resident Emma didn't think too much of the smoke she saw in the distance while returning home from work, but realised how serious the situation was when her power went out.

She was able to evacuate with her family from the area, but through security footage was able to witness the destruction first-hand.

"We were watching from our doorbell camera, and we could see the fireys in our front garden hosing down our house," Emma said.

"It was bizarre; It's like something you see in a movie."
