The NRL will consider launching a Pride round as soon as next year despite the issue possibly dividing the game as it has at the Manly Sea Eagles.
Manly powerbrokers didn’t consult the entire playing group before launching the new jersey, with seven players telling club hierarchy during a crisis meeting on Monday night they were opposed to wearing it due to religious and cultural beliefs.
Nine News rugby league reporter Danny Weidler felt Manly was to blame for the issue spiraling out of control.
"Had they consulted with them, they may have realised in a hurry that perhaps the Manly club isn't ready to take this stance," he told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings.
