One of the world's biggest sporting clubs has been hit with crushing sanctions by the UK government, leaving its future and some of football's biggest stars in limbo.

The latest sanctions mean Chelsea can’t sell new tickets for any of its matches, while its merchandise stores will close and player transfers and new contracts banned indefinitely.

Former Chelsea player and UK radio and TV host Jason Cundy told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings the sanctions have rocked the popular club to its core.

"Basically Boris Johnson now owns Chelsea Football Club... that's a scary thought isn't it?" Cundy said on Friday.
