The State Government's decision to not renew the contract of the man responsible for overhauling WA's ruined detention system is being seen as a frustrating abandonment of responsibility.

Tim Marney was contracted by the State Government to implement new plans to run Banksia Hill as well as other detention centres, yet has now been dropped under the pretense he has "completed his role managing the initial stage of the implementation".
