He remains closely connected to the Pentagon but is critical of the US's stance on the conflict and says labelling Putin a war criminal is significant but not enough, as US President Joe Biden prepares for an emergency G7 war strategy meeting in Brussels today.

"We're stalemated, the ground attack is effectively halted... their main effort is Kyiv and they're not able to bring their artillery into range and surround the city so the artillery can hammer it," he told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings.
