Gareth Parker has weighed in on the weekend furore at the rugby union Test between the Wallabies and England at the SCG on Saturday night.

A patron at the stadium, who happens to work in sales for Nine – owner of Radio 6PR – faces a five-year ban from Rugby Australia for the incident for calling Tasmanian-born England coach Eddie Jones a traitor at half time and after the game.

"I reckon this is way over the top, surely you can go to a footy game and shout out things ... not racist things, you shouldn't threaten people," Parker said.

"But I don't think it's a problem to call an Australian working for another country a 'traitor'."

Jones told the Sydney Morning Herald one of the men who abused him had privately emailed to apologise.
