He said DFES now recommended that solid fuel cooking applicances such as pizza ovens and offset smokers once the FDR hits high.

DFES Rural Fire Division executive director Murray Carter says under the four-rating system, the new category of high is similar to the old rating of very high.

When the conditions are high end ... then embers can leave those appliances and the property," he said.
