That is the projection of Real Estate Institute of WA president Damien Collins, who says WA will face the shortage within four years, amid a construction boom, as the cost of materials continue to soar, including bricks, which were now $3 to lay.

"We're already in a housing shortage crisis... the building industry as it stands today does not have the capacity to meet the demand," he told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
