A quirky rescue in Perth's south occurred last night after a woman's car smashed through a front yard fence and plunged into a swimming pool. 

Emergency services were called to the Thornlie home before 7am last night. 

Neighbours from across the road heard the loud noise and jumped into the pool to save the driver. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt.
