John Farnham's family has shared an update on his health as he recovers in hospital after marathon surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his mouth.

The music icon underwent 12-hour surgery on August 23.

Jill Farnham has today provided an update on John's condition.

He remains in stable condition in ICU.

"He is awake and responding well to the care he's receiving," the statement said.
