6PR Breakfast has revealed that TRG officers and the RAC rescue chopper have rescued a man 160km out of Sandstone.

The rescue happened 450km north of Kalgoorlie, where the 80-year-old man disappeared on Friday evening.

Police spent the weekend combing remote terrain near Sandstone. 

The search operation continued into the night, and the crew had to sleep through rough conditions, as Superintendent Steve Post said, 'in the middle of nowhere.'

Superintendent Post from the Mid-West Gascoyne District told Gareth Parker the local man was found on Sunday afternoon.
