Under a new universal booze policy for mine sites, workers in WA's resources sector will be limited to four daily drinks.

Rob Carruthers, Director of Policy and Advocacy for the Chamber of Minerals and Energy, told 6PR Breakfast host Gareth Parker that the move is a step forward in dealing with alcohol consumption on mine sites and at accommodation facilities.

The four drink maximum policy rolled out on Monday for all mining and gas sites, while shots will be banned following a successful trial.
