In his first live interview since a horrific one-punch attack last September that almost killed him, Danny Hodgson told 6PR Breakfast host Mark Gibson the overwhelming support from WA locals kept his spirits high during his long recovery from extensive brain injuries.

Hodgson can't work with his current injuries, and requires ongoing treatment and rehabilitation, with a golf day in October hoping to raise much-needed funds for his future.

"The donations from the people of Western Australia has helped me massively," Hodgson said.
