The grand final will be played at Perth's RAC Arena on Sunday, July 3, with a new fixed location chosen and released with the fixture before the season each year.

The decision to not award hosting rights to the winner of the major semifinal has caused uproar just two weeks before the end of the regular season.

6PR sports broadcaster Paddy Sweeney reckons the decision is "one of the stupidest things he's heard", but 6PR Breakfast host Gareth Parker didn't agree.

"It's tone deaf, it's dumb and at the expense of the taxpayer," Paddy said.
