Three children have been found dead after a house fire in Port Hedland.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze about 4.45pm on Tuesday, before firefighters made the tragic discovery after bringing the fire under control. St John paramedics were called to the scene but did not transport anyone to hospital.

6PR Breakfast host Gareth Parker said detectives were are at the scene on Anderson Street, with specialist investigators from the major crime division and forensics also on their way to continue investigations.

"There is a lots that we do not know about this tragedy, police are expected to hold a media conference later today," he said.

"It's hard to get your head around this but it's believed one of the three children is an infant."
