According to the latest batch of data, 5 vehicles are being stolen from Ottawa driveways every single day. As of New Year’s Day, we are up to 560 vehicle thefts in 2024, and we are not even four months deep. We speak to Councillor David Brown, who represents the sixth-highest number of victims. On the lighter side of things, if you are planning to adopt a cat aged 6-and-over, you will no longer have to pay an adoption fee at the Ottawa Humane Society.

He says that his government has cut the cost of cellphone plans in half since 2019, partially done through an increase in competition. Up next on the Red Team’s chopping block: Junk fees on cellphone bills. This would give Canadians more power over telecommunication providers, allowing them to cancel their phone plans or switch to cheaper packages with no added charges. David Soberman, a Professor of Marketing at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, encourages Canadians to take these comments with a grain of salt. He joins Kristy Cameron to explain further. Meantime, if the feds want to solve the country’s housing dilemmas, experts say it will have to solve a longstanding construction shortage first. That story is coming up in Hour 1.
