5 Weekend Nights-The Rainbow Turn Up with LeloWhatsGoodThe Rainbow Turn Up is a feature where different queer djs play a mix in celebration of Pride Month every Saturday evening.
Oftentimes queer dj’s are sidelined and aren’t given a platform outside of their own events and spaces, we are rewriting that narrative and unearthing sounds of queer DJs who are at the forefront of queer liberation.
This feature will be executed both on-air and online in the following ways:
On-Air: The mix will play in the first hour of the show. (Duration: 20mins)
Online: An in-depth interview with our guest where we discuss the queer community, the hardships, and social issues thereof.
This weekend's guest DJ is Lelo Meslani, AKA “Lelowhatsgood”, a DJ behind the representation and visibility of queer creatives in South Africa - playing on international stages such as Boiler Room and AFROPUNK in 2019. He is also a writer, editor for Faculty Press, and the founder of Vogue Nights Jozi - an inclusive, intersectional event and cultural movement for the queer community that has music, fashion, and dance at the core of its concept
